It's free. Just replaced a faulty sensor & a simple tune up on my car, out of pocket a bill. If I took it to the dealer they woulda probably told me I needed some major engine work.

funny you mention this. i've been getting a check engine light in my liberty, on and off, for the last year or so.

my first inclination is to ignore it and see what happens. the check engine lights are notoriously unreliable and can be set off by petty mix ups with the sensors and whatnot. always trust your mechanical intuition first and computers second. in my case, car was in great shape (personally maintained) and running really well. it still comes on every once in a while, but the car has been awesome with no problems. go figure.

sometimes i think they're designed to go off arbitrarily to rake in the cash. it's cool that autozone offers that survice.

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

in my case there was definitely something wrong... i was bogging at 2500 rpm's at times & the car was sputtering... i thought it might be 1 of the injectors being clogged or maybe something in the Air flow system... turns out it was oil that seeped into the cam position sensor that was causing the errors & the bogging... i replaced the sensor & the car is running great... the same Duralast part cost $39 at Autozone, which is about $20 cheaper than what i've seen the OEM part advertised for online... the plugs, wires & injector cleaner ran me another $60... it was all a bolt on fix, nothing too complicated... if i took it to the dealer to fix they woulda probably charged me at least $300 to do the same work i'm guessing.

One of the major causes of the check engine light is leaving your car on when you're filling up your gas tank. Seriously....

loose gas caps can cause the CEL, so that's the first thing to check... sometimes bad gas is the problem... if the CEL keeps coming up u should get it checked out... if it's blinking then it's a major problem & u shouldn't be driving it.
