Do you wait to be told No by the top 5 in the Free agenda class or do you offer Rudy Gay a Max Contract???

They can't match unless they dump Zach. Now I'm not saying Gay is better then Lbj or Wade, but they aren't leaving. They will likely add some of the top Fa's. I am saying I would rather have Gay than at 24 then Bosh, Amare or Joe Johnson.

Best case would be moving Curry and not having Guys offer effect LBJ or Wade saying no.

i'd pass on Rudy Gay if it's gonna take a near max level contract to sign him... if i can't get Lebron or Wade, i go hard after either Bosh or Amare, sign some secondary tier level contract veteran & other role players, & keep my flexibility open to go after Melo in 2011. (this is assuming we have the cap space to sign 2 max FA's this offseason to begin with)

this 2010 free agent class has you name struck. not that imma fan of signing rudy but there are ways to rebuild this team into a contender with other players besides the 03 draft class and the one who got away in 02.

well if ur not a fan of Rudy what are u contesting me on? of course the 2010 free agent class has me name struck... ever since Donnie took over that's all he's been planning for... everyone knows who's gonna be available this offseason in free agency... i'm sorry but when there are names like Lebron, Wade, Bosh, Amare & Dirk out there u don't settle for names like Rudy Gay.

i'm not interested in building a playoff contender... i wanna build a team that i think can contend for titles... spending big bucks on players like Rudy Gay is not my idea of building a championship core... ur free to disagree.

Rudy Gay is a much better investment for the big bucks then anybody not named Wade or Lbj.

Gay and Gallo 3/4 at 24 and 22 for the next 5-7 years is a much better step at building a contender then throwing money at 30 year 2nd tier players like Bosh and JJ.

I'm serious not even about names at this point, Walsh should be about building a team. Not selling jerseys. Get Mike a team that can grow with Gallo.

i wonder how Danny Ainge felt about going after KG & Ray Allen & trading a young up & comer like Al Jefferson before he built their championship core in Boston?

I love Rudy and he certainly is a good option if they can't land LeBron or Wade but I think you try that first. I think LBJ is going to sign in Cleveland or Miami. My guess is that NJ makes a move like this for Rudy. Rudy has had some huge fourth quarters this year.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/stats?playerId=3005

I haven't seen the guy play since uconn but his stats are fairly impressive. The only red flags i see is his averaging more turnovers than assists, and that he hasn't seemed to take a step forward since his second year in the league. The last few years are pretty similar stat-wise, but pretty good stats overall. Just low assist numbers.

Would I overpay for him? Yes, I would. I don't know if I'd offer the max, but this would be a very creative move for Donnie. If he can extend a max offer to Gay he might be able to entice a LeBron to join. To do that he will need to clear more salary.

My thinking on free agency is that Wade would never consider nyc in a million years. It's either Miami or Chicago for him. LeBron is the only other FA i'd really crave. Bosh and Amare and Joe Johnson are #3, #4, #5 respectively. I would Put Rudy Gay in that second tier, probably even ahead of Joe Johnson.

IMO if we signed Chris Bosh or Amare to a contract in 2010 (assuming we don't get Lebron) & then nabbed Melo in 2011, that we'd be a legitimate championship contender, & be a lot more likely to win a title than we would if we went after guys like Rudy Gay & Monta Ellis... yeah, i know there's more than 1 way to build a champion, but IMO Bosh + Melo is a better bet to win titles than Gay + ?

I think Artest is right. Very few guys have the guts to be the first guy to come here and make the Knicks relevant again. I don't think Bosh has it in him to do it. I could really see LeBron doing it and then convincing a Bosh or a Melo to join him.

Overpaying for Rudy Gay would be Allan Houston all over again -- but for a player who is not as good.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

You can pull as many numbers as you want. Has Rudy Gay even gotten to the playoffs yet? Allan Houston was able to anchor mediocre Knicks teams and get them to the playoffs.

I'm surprised at you Anji.

Why are we signing Bosh and Melo??? is Bosh and Ellis a title team????

Why is melo terminating his deal when his team should be in the Western conference finals for two or threes with Billups?? I get the Lbj situation with New York, the media and the money. But now every star in the league has secret Nike deal money for playing in NY???

I think wanting all these guys to leave champion contenders is a pipe dream at this point. We have a 20win team that is going to let 75 percent of it's roster walk, with no first round pick.

Who says Gallo is ready in 2-3years to be starting on a title team. What about hill??? Is he going to put it together before a Stoudimare/bosh hits 33. Or is Melo plus Bosh suppose carry a bunch of 24 year olds and walk-ons to contender stasis??? Pixie Dust and Unicorn farts if you ask me.

I want a solid plan.

I expect everybody but Bosh to resign and if Donnie is a good Gm he should too. Because you are going to have to search for a while to find the last time a team that finished in the 8 of the nba lost its best player. Banking on contending teams stars is a waste, even before you add that the Knicks are probably a 20 win team.

We need to start thinking about building a team at this point.
