How concerned are you with Gallo's recurrent back issue?

Are you very concerned, not at all? Did you expect this all along?

I kind of wanted to keep mum and wish it away, and the start to the season was strong. But some of us noticed unnatural motion control on his part when picking up loose balls. This was exasperated against the Pacers where several forum members noticed unusual behavior and lethargy on the part of Gallo. I understand that the AI news is pretty big right now, but we're not signing him; this is our future. And it seems grave to me.

Very, this is unexpected
Somewhat, let's see how it plays out
Not at all, the young buck will recover fully
Very, but I expected it all along

He says he's fine and I'm inclined to believe him unless I start to see a pattern arising over the next few games. He can put my worries to rest with a good game vs. NJ

speaking of Gallo, anybody with insider access get a chance to see where ESPN placed him on their top 20 sophomores list? Did he even crack the top 20?

I'm worried that his back flaring up is related to and the reason for his disappearance from the offense.

We just don't know at this point. We'll have to see how he does. I don't thin anyone was expecting him to breeze thru this 82 game marathon without any issues. He's like every other human coming back from a surgery. It's gonna take more than a few months to get to an elite level physically. His legs and core are not what they should be yet. He's gonna need a full off season program to really strengthen those areas.

I'm with Nix on this one. Man, we are agreeing a lot lately. Listen, I've been concerned about this since the day we found out he had back issues. We all know how bad back issues can be. But the guy just had back surgery and I did not expect him to make it 82 games with no problem. I expected flare-ups, so when one happens I'm not going to get bent out of shape about it. I will see how it plays out and if it ruins his career then we'll know. If it turns out to be just a flare up then we will also know. Either way, I got more fun things to do then worry about Gallo's back issues.

I just hope that people will like me

I expected it, but I'm not very concerned. That wasn't an option on your poll. That's what can happen when you mix two questions in one poll.

A Pilates & yoga instructor is to Danilo as a dietician & trainer is to Eddy Curry: essential.

I hope Gallo's got someone working with him on this. Rather he stay a limber string bean than a bulked-up gimp.

Kid confuses me. We know, the coaches know and he must know that him putting up shots is more efficient than just about anything else we can do on offense.

Yet... he doesn't even act like he wants the ball or at least won't move off the ball to get it.

He really reminds me of a perimeter version of Curry, which people here will hate me for saying, but you know that it would be so valuable to get the ball in the kid's hands... its just so damn difficult to get the ball in his hands and its him making it difficult.

Maybe a good drill for those guys would be to play 2-on-2 games with Curry and Gallo on one team and anyone else on the other. Then maybe they'd be forced to figure out how to make themselves available to pass the ball to. Just another eminently frustrating aspect to the Knicks.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

it's possible that his back is not right and he's trying to feel his way out on the court. maybe he's scared to be aggressive to further injure himself?

i don't know. maybe he's being cautious, but why feel cautious if you're 100% healthy? he had 0 points. he's supposed to be a near 20ppg scorer with that awesome shot. soemthing is up, is all i'm saying.

I'm about as concerned as Shawn Kemp is concerned with fathering children.

I am concerned. He is still having trouble. He will continue to have trouble. It's obvious he is laboring out there. It is obvious he walks stiff. He's in pain. There is no grace period this far removed from back surgery. It either worked or it didn't. If you're still in pain and having trouble then it just didn't work. I don't think it's over for Gallo but the signs aren't good right now. Looks like he will just have to play through pain for his career. How much that holds him back is unknown but on Wednesday he was not feeling good at all.

What's his contract status? Is he already extended, or does his original rookie deal end next year?

This notion that all Gallo has done is stay outside isn't true. He's getting in there less frequently than we'd like, but he's driven to the basket several times a game. Often he hands it off or is fouled. He also has been crashing the boards too, so if he was scared or in constant pain I don't see him doing any of those things.

He's gonna go thru adjustment issues as any rookie would and then when you add the back issue it's gonna add another layer of trepidation. I think this year we have to allow him to take it slow. What's the freakin rush anyway?

Nix, if that's the case, then send him to the D-league. This isn't daycare.

You can't have a lot more blank box-score games when you put in 15+ minutes. That's not acceptable.

If he's hurt, let him get healthy. If he needs to feel his way around this thing, then go to the D-league where he can play meaningless minutes and experiment a little.

Or he could try playing in Europe.

Back injuries for basketball players are never good. Q is having problems again. Bogut got off to a good start but hurt his leg. LJ was half the player he was after his back injury. I believe Kiki had a back injury and could never really play better than Johnny Newman. Gallo may have much better results. He is younger than all of the guys that I mentioned and his surgery was supposed to be minor. I am still very curious about the pre-existing injury Kiki spoke about that he said he knew about before the draft.

At this point, if I was Kemp I would be extremely concerned with fathering anymore kids. Concerned enough, in fact to go the snips and ice pack routine.....
