Does it take more basketball skill to run a fastbreak offense or to run a setup?

I think it takes more skill to run a fastbreak offense. In a fastbreak you are relying on your skills whereas in a setup you do what you are suppose to do. On all levels of basketball this is true. What say you?

Takes different skill sets, IMO. In a running offense you have to be able to make smart snap decisions, be physically able to expand large amounts of energy over a long period of time, although a lot of a fast offense is planned around having only certain guys rebound and throw the outlet while other guys stay down court. A running offense is more a lot more planed then your daily run at whatever court you play.

A half court offense takes much better court vision and ball control and probably means you also have to be a better defender because you are trying to bend not break on defense as opposed to trying to ignite your offense in the other system.

All in all I don't think it takes more "skill" to run one or the other. Just different skill sets. I know it's a cop out answer but so be it.

You need to use different skills for both. No matter what, you need your shooters. No matter what, you need your PG. And you especially need guys who can pass and you need guys who can get in the paint.

In a fastbreak offense, you need ball handlers who can make their decisions much faster and execute quickly. In a fullcourt, you need either patience or someone who can break down the offense whether it's from posting, driving or from passing.

Not one is better than the other and one doesn't require more skill. In my opinion, the better the players you have, it doesn't matter which type of offense you run.
