Free tickets not enough to bring fans, a win to New Jersey as Nets fall to 0-11Ten apparently was not enough for the Nets, or their fans, Tuesday night at the Meadowlands.
Despite a desperate attempt to snap the team out of a franchise-worst season-opening slump by offering thousands of free tickets in an effort to create a winning environment, the Nets and their indifferent supporters both turned in one of their more lackluster performances of the season in a 91-83 loss to the Pacers. Only 11,332 fans showed up despite an offer of two free additional tickets to each season-ticket holder, a promotion dubbed "10 is Enough."
The Nets have lost their first 11 games and have a tough game tonight in Milwaukee, where they will try to slow down high-scoring rookie Brandon Jennings. If the Nets don't win, their next chance to snap the streak would come Saturday against the visiting Knicks. The NBA record for most consecutive losses to start a season is 17, achieved by the 1988-89 Heat and the 1998-99 Clippers. The Nets are on pace to tie that mark on Nov.29 in L.A., against the Lakers.
Wow, this is just... sad.
