Europe may help players develop for NBA better then the NCAA does. They have a more professional model that replicates the NBA more then the NCAA model does. They play vs grown men and tougher comp as well. Plus they don't worry about classes, test and grades but strictly on practicing basketball which the NCAA only allows a certain amount of time for.

Jennings success is bad news for the NCAA. Soon Stern is going to have to get European games broadcast across the globe as soon the Garnetts, Amares, Dwight Howards, Lebron James, Kobe Bryants, Tracy Mcgradys may end up going overseas to get paid, and work yr round on there games and being pros.

Carmelo Anthony before he went to Cuse played summer ball over seas to develop his game. Then went on to win the NCAA championship his rookie yr.

NCAA will still get there share of players though as only the freak of nature will probably be the targets while the average player will stay in NCAA.

Or do you think Jennings would have been this ready this early even if he stayed with the NCAA for one yr and out.

It proves that we need to be developing our players who are professional-level but not at the NBA level here like they do in Europe and the way it is done in every major sport except for pro basketball and football.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Other than Baseball what are the other major sports you are referring to? I guess Hockey. Both baseball and hockey use a mix of both college and minor league systems.

the real question is why did he play so poorly over there? DW admitted not picking him was a mistake. All the Euro scouting said he couldnt shoot. Then in his workout he couldnt shoot. Suddenly he Mark Price from Compton. Go figure

The choice is there and many more major league pro prospects come from the farm system as opposed to the college ranks. It is there for a reason.

The rest of the world gets it too. Basketball and football are behind the times.

On the other hand, some felt he had been hampered by the system in Europe and thought he would be an outstanding NBA player. Particularly convincing was his development coach, Serbian legend Nenad Trajkovic:

"I promise you. If you brought LeBron James over from high school straight to Europe, we

would have messed him up. We demand different things. It is not enough

to do something. You must do it correctly. Everyone who comes, young or old, from America,

has to adjust. He was able to do it better than most I have seen. One more year

in Europe, and he would be a star. I don't know if the NBA feels the same way."
