What will 2 high 2nd round picks net us in a deep draft?

Ok, we have no first round pick this year but we do have two (probably high) second round picks. You know in a draft as deep as this that a few good players are going to fall. In particular some older guys, but that is my guess. We can't draft as an organization that well, but we do love "seasoned" college guys

We can also trade those two (hopefully high) picks and a player like Chandler (if need be) to maybe get a mid to higher first round pick.

Draft gurus out there what do you think?

Just wondering as outside of the rooks, this year seems a bit lost...

Well we could have had Blair if we had a high second round pick, so there is a good chance we can get someone good. BRIGGS is the expert on unsung second round prospects.

Pretty sure we only have one left - didn't we deal the Denver 2nd rounder we got for Balkman to the Lakers in the Douglas trade?? Not sure...

As of right now, unless we can come up with a PG somewhere else, I'd be looking at PGs like Sherron Collins, Jerome Randle, Nic Wise or Greivis Vasquez -- they're all the leaders of their teams and much better players than Duhon.

I'm also interested in C prospects AJ Ogilvy & Jerome Jordan, PF Trevor Booker if he slips (he probably goes 1st round), shot-blockers like Larry Sanders & Jarvis Varnado or some of the SF types in the event we traded Chandler and needed a replacement -- a guy like Sylvester Seay from Fresno St. seems very well-rounded..

As for the shooting guards, I can't picture Lance Stephenson going in the 2nd round unless he just has a bad experience this year at Cincy. He's too talented to go that late - he'll probably test the waters and if he doesn't get a 1st round commitment from someone, he'll just go back to school...Cal's Pat Christopher could be an option. Saw Cal. beat Murray State last night on ESPN-U after the Knick game. College hoops is back baby, thank Christ.. I'd say Cal's Randle/Christopher duo is one of the better backcourts in the nation right now -- Randle's a little small but he's so skilled--he can shoot it, pass it and he gets to any spot on the court he wants to go in the blink of an eye and Christopher's a good shooter with some decent size..

Obviously all these guys aren't coming out.

Inside info on Wesley Johnson who transferred to Syracuse last year is that the Orange thought he was the best player on the floor during their practices, so it should be interesting to see what he can do. He put up 34 in their last game. Haven't seen him play yet for SU, so no idea if he can play the 2 well.

Gaddy and Shumpert have the size we need at PG.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

what the Knicks can will and should do is try to buy more late picks. Its the best way to fill out the roster with cheap players that have guarenteed contracts. It might cost up front money but wont hurt the cap.

I think Toney Douglas, Dejuan Blair and Chase Budinger were all guys that had some NBA skills and could help you fill out a rotation

If Greivis Vasquez is available, I'll be stoked... and I know that another SF definitely isn't a need, but I'll be happy with Tyler Smith if he happens to fall

Where are Courtney Fells, Brandon Costner, Ben McCauley, Tyrese Rice and Josh Shipp right now? Anyone know? Can't find any information on where these guys went...

Me too. Supposedly he's really worked hard on his jumper. Gotta get that shooting % up, that's the only thing with him. Still remember that game where he ripped up NC last year on TV. Big and talented, no question about it...

I like Smith too. He's a pretty good player. I remember Dionte Christmas lighting him up last year though...

Are we talking packaging the two picks and moving up? I think it's possible if you find a team in the 18-24 range let's say, that's happy with what they have and have no incentive to add a guaranteed rookie contract to their roster, and want to save the lux tax implications of doing so. It's possible.

OK, Rice is playing in Greece and Shipp went to go play in Turkey. Anyone know what happened to these NC State guys?

We're in agreement over Greivis... MD is only as good as he is every night and there were times MD looked dangerous. I think is the perfect coach for him, for a few reasons. We're officially the founding members of the "Draft Greivis Vazquez In the Second" bandwagon

Smith isn't perfect and has flaws to his game. But he reminds me of Batum/Budinger in that his name was ALWAYS on the mock drafts, but never real high, and people started thinking there was something wrong because they were on the draftboard for so long or something. But if he's available I'd grab him because there's really no risk. The team probably won't though because he has no three point shot, despite having a great offensive repertoire, and contributing significantly to rebounds, steals, and assists

By the way, I think it is effing hysterical that eight games in and the most interesting thread on uk.com is the "what to do with our second" thread

We bought the Douglas pick.

The Denver pick is actually the better of the Denver #2 and the Clippers #2, as far as I can recall.
