Yeah, it's worth it.
It might prove to be cheesy in future episodes, but, tonight was very good. It's worth the look.

How damning was Mike's coaching session for Duhon? Showing that key play with the fast-break high pick and roll... that makes you understand better some of the pieces that they've added and what they still need.

Basically what Mike showed is that in his offense as soon as the ball is rebounded the two wings are supposed to run to the corners and the off guard is supposed to go to the left elbow. The center is supposed to come out to the three point line and set a pick on the PG's man as he sprints down the floor and then roll hard to the basket.

When the pick is initiated the right side wing is supposed to come off the corner to the right elbow.

The defender for the right side wing can either go with him, or drop down to defend the rolling center.

The point guard now has to either just go to the basket if he has a clear lane, or pass to whoever a help defender has come from. You should get a layup or a wide open three pointer every time.

Sounds awesome, and makes you understand how the Suns get up a shot in 7 seconds or less.

One problem... our PG has been walking it up all yeat, and can't finish at the rim. I guess that's two problems.

So, we drafted Gallo, I can see where you needed a dagger shooting wing to fit that offense.
So, we drafted Hill, I can see where (especially if Lee left) you need a mobile pick and roll center to finish those plays.

Jennings would have filled a huge need too. Seems like that point guard position is going to be the toughest in the system to fill. You need someone who's big, fast, has extreme handle, can finish, and pass.

No way that player is available at #32 next year.

You know who might be a good short term solution if we were a different team in a different place? Sebastian Telfair. OK, scratch that... Lowry would be nice. Grevis Vasquez might be a nice backup point for this system at #32 next year.

It will be interesting to see if a Johnson/LeBron type can run the point in that system.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Of course its good in theory, but you need the horses to execute. Do you really think theres that big of a difference between most of the top coaches in the game other than the players? MDA was a near genius when he had Nash a 2 time mvp running the point. Now he has a career back-up at best and all of a sudden, he can't coach. Byron Scott was below average with Marb, coach of the year candidtate with Kidd, below average again first year in N.O, then back to the top with Paul.....

WOW I AGREE WIT THAT!!!!

Just shows me that other then Lee and Gallo no one on this team gets the offense....... Which really is sad its seems simple yet so smart!!!

Run to your spots! PG ( who def dont get Mr Duhon ) uses pick to find a mismatch or the open man!! Other then working GREAT at times with Lee Duhon NEVER makes the smart decision!

SAD SAD SAD!!! Coach should suit up bet even at 50 he does a better job getting things done!!

Sorry Duhon I wanted to root for you being that your a Knick but your disregard of Gallo and anyone but Lee or Al just makes me sick!!

Last night Gallo does the right thing 2 times down does not touch ball again till we are down by 20!! PATHETIC!! And blame is all on DUHON and Harrigton!!

KNICKS on the way UP!!!

I think Pop does a great job getting guys to fit into the system that they run and those guys generally are not star material. He has had alot of success for along time.

Isiah's "quick" was actually executed pretty well for the SL when he installed it, but it always seemed like only Nate/Lee/Balkman/Marty knew how to run it. When they got to the regular season they seemed to throw it away, but that ship has sailed.

The MikeD system... I mean, how hard is it to get a decent point guard? I swear there are kids playing today in parks NYC that could run this thing better than what we have currently. It would be an amazing show to have an open competition for the Knicks last roster spot.

Just seems like a dereliction of duty for Donnie to have avoided drafting a PG with the last two lottery picks. This system is still going to struggle even if we have Max players on the wings if there's no elite PG. The PG and the center are the engine because they make that initial move, and then you need the three remaining players to be interchangeable, versatile players who can drain an open three, drive and finish, and defend three positions at the other end.

Pick and Roll Center: Hill
Primary Wing: Gallo
Secondary Wing: Chandler/Al Jr
Elbow/Ball Handler: __________(Nate for now)
Primary Point: __________ ugh...

From a standpoint of just fitting the profile we're doing OK putting pieces together, but its too slow. By the time we acquire the other pieces Chandler will be a free agent. Plus, there aren't any real promising PG's for our system that are UFA's next Summer. Either Johnson or LeBron would fit great (obviously) in that 2Guard spot. The PG is going to be tougher to find.
