From today's New York Times:

Wilson Chandler shot a 3-pointer that hit the top of the backboard. Harrington threw a backcourt inbounds pass directly to Gerald Henderson, who barely broke stride as he intercepted the ball and drove for the dunk. The Knicks managed to hit just about every inch of the rim, and frequently dribbled the ball off their lower extremities.

Is this what we've become? Even the Times?

And this from the Daily News:

The Knicks fell behind 32-13 in the first quarter to a team that had scored just 59 points against the Celtics two nights earlier. "We're not that good," Duhon said. "We can't come in here and joke around and take the game lightly. It is a precious game and we've got to be serious. This is our job and we have to take it seriously, and we're not doing that right now. It shows in our layup line, it shows before the game. That's why we come out and we're not ready to play."

Really? Are they still this unfocused?

When you have a coach that teaches a street ball style, it all is a joke anyway. Coach NoD'antoni is in for a long year if he thinks these dullshooters should be launching 40 threes a game.
I want to leave something that's going to stand for a long timeI want to leave a legacy,I want to leave tradition.I want to leave an imprint,a blueprint in terms of how people play, and how they coach and how they respond when they put on the Knick uni.

it's just that you have a coach with a system that most of our knucklehead players are too stupid to play within. that's it. no blaming the coach, no nothing.

I don't think the entire squad has to have high b-ball IQs for the team to thrive in this system... just THE POINT GUARD.

Duhon < Nash.

that's a good point. you gotta wonder how much better everyone would play if we had a quality pg. more like duhon << nash. sucks we didn't get s. curry, and i mean it really sucks.

There is one thing that people fail to take into account-- these guys play in NYC.

Teams come out flat often because they're tight. As they mentally loosen up, the game starts to come to them.

When you have to constantly fend off the slings and arrows of a parasitic media core, plus carry the wait of a long-frustrated fan base, playing loose becomes REALLY difficult.

The players that thrived on the hardwood in recent years in NYC were TOUGH, and came from tough backgrounds. Starks, Oak, Ewing... etc.

D'antoni will have his handsful getting the most out of this group in this environment.

You know who can handle the spot light? You know who's really tough? Gallinari, Danilo. He shot 90%+ in his rookie year, as an immigrant learning a new language and also as a teenager. If that's not tough, then what is?? This is cast iron, bro, it's titanium.

and i don't be knowing if that really affects our players. they're used to it. consider their home w/l last season, 20-21, versus their road record, 12-29.

After last night's game, you're starting to look really prophetic...
