This can't be correct can it? Was that draft that terrible? Now remember, these are EXTENSIONS, not OPTIONS PICKED UP (such as team, player, QO options) - these are outright EXTENSIONS. Players so good we won't do the QO thing we're just going to EXTEND THEM multiple years.

Andrea Bargnani (Toronto), No. 2 LaMarcus Aldridge (Portland), No. 6 Brandon Roy (Portland) and No. 13 Thabo Sefolosha (Oklahoma City) are the only members of the class to sign extensions.

Good LORD that IS horrible! LOL! I had forgotten how bad it was. Was this the draft affected by the "no more HS draft picks" clause?

you guys bitch about Gallo.. imagine having pick 3 and Adam Morrison to show for it. Ouch.

I think Rudy Gay is a good option to overbid for next summer. Let everyone walk and build around Rudy Gay and Bosh. I could live with that

Ty Thomas may emerge this year.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

If we trade for Gay mid-season, say for Hill and Wilson, then how does the cap-hold situation work? What would Gay's cap hold be?

My thought is that you could have Gay as an RFA - and if his cap hold is low enough, you could then fit a max player in under the cap.

I don't think Gay or Bosh is really worth the Max, and I don't think that's a combination that's going to get us anywhere either. Gay has been playing bad defense recently on a team that he should be leading and he shoots 35% from the outside. If he could give the Knicks a mid-range, driving presence maybe that would be a positive. I don't know. Risky move.

You can also make a great case for Bargnani being picked #1 that draft. Roy is the only one I would even consider taking over him at this point. He should have been #1 or #2, period.

Bargnani is also a good example as to why you don't make snap judgments on whether a pick is a bust before giving him some time to develop. I wonder how many folks were calling him a bust after his first year? I wonder how people on UK would have ranked him as a draft pick after his first season.

his first year, he improved every month to the point of finishing 2nd in ROY voting.

the criticisms came his 2nd year where he looked lost playing a new position (center).

Thanks for the info.

I was not on any forums when that draft took place- was Toronto criticized around here for picking him?

Skiles was GM'ing? Did he have that much pull or was the GM drafting players that fit his coach?

they rumor was skiles and paxson went to dinner with aldridge and didn't like the way aldridge carried himself (wimpy) and couldn't look at skiles in the eye.
