Works for us, we get a backup 2 who is actually a good player, comes off the cap just like Ward. Ward works for Spurs, they need a backup point, plus Ward is perfect for Duncan, feed the post and wait for the open 3. They are willin to trade Mercer for Sura, and Ward is surely better then Sura. But this is probably to good for Layddumb to think up lol.

Amazing how much Mercer's value has dropped since being drafted. He was quite excellent in college... and looked like he had all of the upside in the world. Instead he's turned into a journeyman, a la Calbert Cheaney part II.

He's got the size and skills we need at the swingman positions... I just wonder how much upside he's got left. His draftmate, Billups, took a long time to develop, but he's now among the top players in the league now (kind of like a Sam Cassell part II).

We need to dump some players fast and at least have an open rotating spot in the IR for us to try out new CBA/NBDL guys.
