Rajon Rondo will not sign a new contract with the Celtics, according to agent Bill Duffy.

The two sides met to discuss a possible deal recently. Duffy feels as though Rondo should be among the top-five highest paid point guards, but the Celtics don't feel the same way.

"We're not going to do an extension right now," Duffy told Yahoo! Sports. "The conversation has been cordial. We've been talking the last couple of weeks. There is a difference between the perception of him in their eyes and our eyes. With that being said, the focus is on Rajon to have a fantastic season and concentrate on winning a championship."

Assuming the two sides don't reach an agreement by Friday, Rondo will become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

It seems we would possibly be able to land Rondo if we were to offer him a lot of money. Which Boston does not seem willing to do.

Do yo guys feel he would be worth giving top 5 highest paid PG money. He will be 24 by next off season. He averaged 12pts 5rebs 8ast 2stls on 50percent shooting. Though he has averaged around 17pts 10rebs 10ast 2.5stls on 41percent in last yrs playoffs.

Is he the type of PG that could do damage in MDA's system? There has also been talk about him coming late to games and practice. How he has pissed people off in the Celtics organization which is why they were looking to trade him in the off season.

You'd have to sign this guy to a monster deal to get the Celts to back down, same with Gay
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I say he should. He is too young to retire.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Smart move by Rondo and his agent. They're playing for a championship AND more money.

Rondo is definitely solid. But is the type of of that makes his teammates better. He is great for the celtics because they don't need him to create offense for th big 3. He would be an upgrade. But we would still need alot.
Trust the Process

The CELTS players ...Ray Allen, Rasheed Wallace... think that you can put any PG out there with 4 future HOFs.

I thought Rondo played huge for them in the series they lost and the year prior.

But I don't think his game should, at least at this stage, translate into pay at top 5 PG level.

He may be that good, but no way we should allocate that kind of salary for him unless he is a second banana and Lebron asks for him.

9 mil a year is about 5.8 after taxes
11 mil a year is about 7.1 after taxes

so it's about 1.3 mil a year he's asking for at the end of the day. alot of loot but he's taking a risk of getting hurt and maybe not getting that offer in the free agent market. he should take the 5/45 deal.
