I bet it was hard for him growing up when the other kids would make fun of his odd name. Must be tough to be named Dionte.

Posted by TMS: Absolutely. Why not? Nice size for a two and he can shoot. I remember watching that Temple/Tennesse game live -- he was a monster that day. $13+ million dollars is an awful lot of money to buy out though. If they wanna get rid of Hughes, they're gonna have to find one or two expiring contracts that add up & then broker a deal... You think Christmas has a higher ceiling than Joe Crawford? He might but Crawford knows the system now, going all the way back to last year. If we did give him a look, he won't make the team over Marcus Landry, I think that dude's a lock. |

I've heard worse ideas, but why doesn't he have a place in Philly? At least he has fan support there.
Alan Hahn:
Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

We're already loaded and spoken for.
However, I wouldn't be opposed to shoving Hughes into a woodchipper and giving his spot to Dionte. http://popcornmachine.net/ A must-use tool for NBA stat junkies!

Posted by Finestrg:Posted by TMS: Joe Crawford is a scrub, i think Dionte's got a much bigger upside personally... if we could broker a buyout on Hughes' deal less the veteran's minimum, it would be basically the same cost to us since the difference will go towards signing Dionte to a contract for this season... Hughes will make that difference up by signing back w/the Cavs or whatever team he goes to... everyone wins. After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Q.O.D: why was he waived?
Interesting trivia list. Name 10 players that were waived by a team and later became major minutes impact players. |

PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia police say former Temple University basketball star Dionte Christmas, who was cut by the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday, has been arrested on firearms charges. Police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore says Christmas was stopped by Highway Patrol officers at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday for erratic driving in North Philadelphia. Vanore says he was found to be driving without a license, and the vehicle had a 9mm semiautomatic pistol under the driver's seat. Vanore says Christmas was taken to the 35th Police District to be charged with felony firearms offenses. The 6-foot-5 guard averaged 19.5 points per game in his senior season at Temple. His agent, Andre Buck, said he is trying to contact his client. Sixers spokesman Mike Preston says the team will not comment. lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. Posted by Nalod: That's very funny. Is this dude a thug up to no good or is he a college basketball mensch who lives in a bad neighborhood and packs for his own protection? He doesn't live too far from NYC and I am sure he knows what happened to Plax. I hope he gets it reduced to misdemeanor charges and gets to have a career. |
