I have been a big supporter because of his skill set but I think Gallinari may really struggle in this league. He is young but the one thing that wont change is his athleticism which you need in this league. He cant get around people and he is very slow dribbling the ball. If he becomes a sopt up shooter then Walsh really screwed up drafting him that high. We could have got a Kapano or Novak for that.

he's still basically a rookie... let him get 82 games under his belt before the panic switch is hit

Comparing Gallinari to Kapono. Nice job.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I am saying he is a great shooter but he isnt athletic enough to get to the basket. That makes him a lottery pick spot up shooter. Hey GK who do you compare him to right now? Dirk or Garnett?

I think you have to give this year. Most guys coming off a surgery need a year to fully recover and then to be back at full strength. Gallo as I've said repeatedly was not able to work on strengthening his legs. For good reason after a back surgery. The started working hard in Sept. That's not a lot of time. If he can get thru this yr healthy then I expect he'll be able to work on his explosiveness and core strength next summer. He's not a speed demon or freak athlete but go look at his Euro highlights and notice how much quicker and more explosive he was before the surgery and subsequent inactivity.

Ditto for Chandler(ankle/bone spurs)...I agree strongly on needing time to get back to where he should be.

Nixluva I am rooting for the kid I think he is a high character kid with a lot of skills. I just cry when I watch a Gorden play and he could be our two guard for the next 10 years.

4 preseason games after a big layoff to get his back right and we got folks panicking?
He made an impact on the games he played last year.

Even the media is begining to jump on the instant gratification.

This kid did things before he got here. Not like Darko or Lampe who were raw Jr. players.

If we expect him to be a near all star and peg our Lebron hopes on Gallo then its our expectations that are off.

No draft has any guarantees at any level.

I have to say, I'm a little worried also.

Lat year he showed he could shoot, but he didn't fill out the stat sheet at all. I see no signs he can rack up boards, steals, blocks or another else this year either (other than perhaps foul out).

I have never been less worried about any Knick than Gallo (assuming his back is OK). He shot 50% last year, is automatic from the line, is busy on defense, and on occasion has taken people on the dribble.

I don't know if I have ever been more worried about a pick than Gallo. He was taken 6th in one of the deepest drafts ever and there were alot of very talented players on the board when he was picked. I think anytime a euro is picked there is some anxiety. I felt that right away with Gallo. Aside from a tremendous shot I have not seen the other aspects of his game that were talked about in scouting reports and that some posters report seeing in games when he plays. I hope he has a great career but I don't think he will ever live up to his draft status. Right now he needs to show that he can play in the league and is more than just a shooter. I don't know what to expect from him after back surgery. He has alot to overcome.

I see a ball player that had too much time off due to surgery trying to get his timing back. Keep in mind that He still hasn't had much reps playing the nba game.

In other words give him a little more time. Hell be fine

I am ready to give the man a shot and I am eager to watch him. High IQ means his game wil bloom more rapidly than average. He can clearly shoo the lights out. He is involved defensively and has good vision. I am not worried, it's basically his rookie year do-over.

He may have a high IQ, but it's hard to tell the way he"s so hesitant.

He got no respect from the defense in his first 10 to 15 games, but as the season went on and he started getting consistant minutes he wasn't as wide open, and he wasn't as consistant with his shot. His problem right now is confidence, he doesnt assert himself on the offensive end one bit, can't create space, and although he can shot over anyone he would rather pass.

I give it 2 more seasons before you start getting your $ worth. The process would be quicker if he had better players around him, especially a better more establish Center.

Belive it or not, if Curry can regains his 06 play, that would help a lot.

Why cant a pure shooter be worthy of a high lottery pick? if Gallo turns into a Peja Stoyakovic type player who plays better defense is that a bad thing?

In that draft it was very deep and you could have gotten a lot of great players. If he shoots it like Peja for his career I will take that in a heartbeat

I dont see any evidence of him getting us 5 rebounds a game and a steal a game like Peja does.

Year # 1 Kobe Bryant
7.6 pts 1.3 ast 1.6 TO

Chauncey Billups...first time he averages 14 points or more...7th year

Dirk Year #1
8pts, 3 reb, 1 ast

Hedo...first 4 years...highest points average 10.1

Yes, I know my post has many flaws...and I have no idea why I picked the people I did...my only point being, let's relax...Gallo is young and talented. I don't know if he will be a star; but, I know it is too early to judge.

I am guessing Gallo should really come into his prime as the Knicks are going for their 3rd champioship in 4 years in June of 2014!

I have worried about Gallo from the start, but I am not too worried about his preseason play. I am giving him a good 30-40 games before I start to really form an opinion on his game.
