When you can come in and hit dagger shots like that and play like you belong--you're a keeper. He actually looks NBA ready.

I caught the game (Thanks again Cosmic) and am leaning toward Landry over Crawford. He is tenacious and brings a lot of energy out there. Funny, he seems to me to be one of those players who's college stats don't tell much. He was probably more a team player and gave up a lot of his individual success for that of the teams. I mean he didn't put up much in college but here he is about to make an nba roster. He is 24 but has got loads of desire and a head on his shoulders too. He averaged a steal and a block per game.

Solid player, check out his stats. Good shooting %.

yeah, he did more than the other two have so far

I would have thought that we'd be on the lookout for castoffs from other teams, but with the Mobley cost saving move, seems like we'll just stand pat.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

FWIW he got my vote...even if Loucks is still waiting on his foul call.

He is actually a sleeper player, who I think can crack the rotation..

The shot was one of the question marks with this guy, but I haven't seen anything that makes me think he can't shoot the ball in this league. I also recall him finishing nicely with his left hand on a drive against the Celtics. He seems to move well enough to play at the 2 or 3, although he seems smaller than advertised, and might have trouble at PF. He doesn't have that cut-up body but he is stronger than he looks.

A totally unexpected and pleasant surprise. Not exactly a youngster- turns 24 in 2 weeks, but he does seem NBA ready from the few glimpses we have had of him so far. I would like so see him get some extended time to see how he holds up.

He shot 50% his last year and was always near that for his 4 years at school. I don't think his shot is a question. Now, I don't know how he will shoot under pressure but perhaps we found a sleeper none the less. It's about time, been a loooong time since we had one. Perhaps add Douglas to that list.

Carl Landry is a key player for the Rockets- rebounding, efficient shooting, defense, great effort. They are a much better team with him in the lineup. If Marcus is that kind of player, we definitely need this guy.

Carl Landry is much more pure 4. Marcus is probably more of a hybrid F. Carl is thicker--more put together. I dont think Carl Landry is that far off from Paul Millsap in terms of talent and what he does.

Note David Lee is better than both Landry and Millsap. Sometimes when fans get pirsed off we want to look other places for players and while Im not opposed to trading david--I would want a Mcgee and a pick type deal back. A very high caliber prospect who has proven in small spurts he can play now + a 1. If not Im more than content watching David lee make the all star team IF he plays more like himself and not Troy murphy jr. taking a few J's--that is OK but he should never go 4-13 from the field--way to good.
It shows you how much better David lee is than every other player on this team and second place really isnt close.

My personal order of what I wanna see the organization do with Lee (and I've felt this way right from the get-go):

1) Keep him.
2) Trade him for a high-end package like you suggest (pretty much a no-brainer if the situation ever presented itself).
3) Trade him for something decent to at least ensure we got some kind of value back if it looks like he's gonna bolt (I guess we'll be better able to gauge the situation after next season's salary cap figure finally comes out -- and speaking of, how this figure is allowed to come out this late in the ballgame is beyond me - I mean can you imagine if we signed a guy like Grant Hill to a semi-hefty deal and then the cap shrank to $50 mil?? Crazy. It had a negative effect on our dealings with Ramon Sessions too, a player we could've used and may have been able to add if only we knew what that salary cap figure was. Teams really needed to know that figure before off-season wheeling & dealing even began this past summer imo).

#2 is gonna be almost impossible I fear (I just feel most teams would rather develop their own salary-controlled draft talent rather than give up said young talent AND THEN compromise a decent chuck of their cap even for a sure thing like Lee - maybe I'm wrong). #3 is more likely and we probably had several options this summer - this may prove to be very difficult as well as we'd still need Lee's approval on any deal and I doubt he gives up his security and peace of mind of living in NY for at least the rest of the year to allow himself to be uprooted like that (he's got the steady girlfriend in NY too right?). What we really need is for the cap number to stabilize and not dip as low as we fear and for Lee to take a little less his first year in a multi-year deal. Hopefully this has all been talked about already behind closed doors -- maybe the raise the Knicks gave Lee but didn't have to has a lot to do with him coming back and agreeing to a backloaded deal. Nate too. I'd love to keep 'em both..

Good call on Landry. I agree, he's a lock for the 15-man roster (sorry Chris Hunter, hardly knew ya - just too much depth at the 5 and this guy's been hurt anyway). I think Joe Crawford's made the final cut as well but I'd still like to see him get a little burn in some of these final pre-season games so we can evaluate him some more. Like Landry, I think Crawford's got some decent all-around skills as well.

I'm down with Landry too...you gotta keep a dude like him. He's locked into the game when he's in there and that's contagious. He just seems like a real ball player not just some kid that learned how to play ball indoors all his life like math class. Even if he doesn't crack the rotation, he'd be valuable in practice. Best believe guys can feel the pressure of a guy like him cuz they know coach will put Landry in to prove a point and Landry will be ready when his name is called. Nobody wants their spot taken.

I think we need landry as another defensive player to add to the defensive mindset MDA should be trying to develop. He plays multiple positions and can hit an open shot. That is about all we need from him: defense and hitting open shots.

Now I have seen very little preseason thanks to my young ones. That said, from what you guys are describing Landry sounds a lot like a guy MD loves and has talked repeatedly about bringing here. Landry is sounding an AWFUL lot like Raja Bell when he first came into the league as an undrafted who signed with Philly.

Landry all the way. Chris Hunter is gone as we will keep Crawford as an extra guard.
Landry's energy, desire, abilities will help the Knicks stay motivated during the long season, especially when they are losing.

Good article by Hahn.
