i'd pass on that deal & it's not cuz Jax is a player i wouldn't want, but i'd just rather hold onto Chandler & bite the bullet on Fishlips' contract... Jax won't make enough of an impact on this team to be worth it IMHO.

you'd have to really believe in Jax to do it - his deal is a monster
it would take away the 2011 plan to add a second big player, so Jax would have to be that player
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

what do you think? I dont know if he's the guy or not. He's damn good on both sides of the ball and I could see him really thriving under MDA.

Is there a 2011 plan? I mean if we dont sign Lebron or another stud does Lee and Nate come back? And wouldnt that kill the 2011 plan?

Chandler for future 1st round pick sounds good to me. Or Chandler with Curry for any expiring.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Damn.. .Chandler throws up a couple of Air Balls in a pre-season game and he's already getting packaged in a trade deal? lol
I think Chandler will be a very very good player in a year or two from now. He is still developing and has tons of upside.
I would probably do a Chandler + Curry for Stephen jackson & Filler. But we don't get back enough in a Jeffries & Chandler trade considering the $$$ Jackson still has on his contract.

heh heh...

i know earl may wanna kill me, and i like chandler, but i think jackson might be ideal for us. he's a championship player, plays very hard, and is probably more of a leader than anyone else we have. warriors east with barron davis was a good team.

can duhon be that guy? prob not, but jackson plays defense, and is a better player than either we give up.

now, you have to deal with his salary, and that is my bigger concern than him being a malcontent.

harrington hated nellie, barron hated nellie, apparently ellis hates nellie, i mean the list goes on and on...

jackson doesn't have a rep as a problem to coach, from what i'm aware of.

when you read his comments when he came into training camp complaining, if you see what he's saying, it's because he really wants to win.

he seems to have real competitive fire, which is what we are missing big time.

and for all who say we are soft, his presence instantly ups our respect level.

again, i'm an ill will supporter, but i am growing concerned...yes, it's early, but i am not sure i see where the improvement is from last year. he made a leap the year before, but we knew what some of the issues were, and so far they are all showing the same...poor shot selection, streaky scoring, relying on jumper, aggressive sometimes, tentative other times. we need him to step up.

we ain't making this deal anyway, and i am not saying i'd do it for certain, but i'd very much consider it.

The 2011 plan assumes that we get a max free agent in 2010 and a reasonable lesser FA (like David Lee), then in 2011 based solely on the expiring contracts of Curry and Jeffries we still have enough cap space for a second max FA. This requires that the salary cap go up slightly over the next two years to about $62M.

All of this hocus pocus trading of Chanler to get rid of Curry and Jeffries will not put us in a much greater position than we will be in given time alone, except to the extent that it allows the Knicks to submit two max contract offers simultaneously. We could do that solely by trading Eddy Curry.

A secondary, but related point is that Chandler and Gallo both naturally play the same position as James and a second contract to Wade would tie up the SG position. While Chandler would make a great sixth man, and Gallo should ultimately fill out his frame to become a Hedo-esque PF, it begs the question whether either is expendable. But this is an ideal scenario and a lot to gamble given the uncertainty of the situation.

Ewing hated Nellie too.. remember he actually coached here?

All things things can blow up, but here is what I see:

SJ will go out and defend the opposing team's best player.
SJ will call out guys like Lee, Nate or anyone else for a subpar effort on D and he will be right to do so.
SJ doesnt shoot the best FG% but he fills the stat sheet with rebs, steals and assists and gets to the line as well.

Does his $$ fit into "the plan"? Does he have baggage? Is he worth it? I dont know... chime in. Good feedback so far. I would do it. I think this team needs an infusion of talent and tough but smart play, and I think a reloc will do SJ much good

We should be acquiring players that are entering their primes or in their primes.

Jackson is whatever now.

No.

You keep Jefferies and try to move him during the season.

This way you keep Chandler and free up room for 2 free agents next summer.

In your scenario we gain Jackson (1 player) and lose Chandler.

In my scenario we gain a 2nd free agent and keep Chandler.

Two years from now Chandler greater than Jackson anyway....

Chandler is gonna be better in 2 years? If that is the reason anyone wants to keep Chandler than we are doomed.

Why? Cuz what free agent is coming to ny to wait 2 years for players to get better?

If Jax can be traded to ny, you do it. Jax is a soldier and all of his teamates like him. He's gonna bring it everyday....even if he has to play point guard which he did last year. Jax is a real basketball player.

I don't think DW has forgotten about what happened in Detroit so I doubt he's in any rush to bring this dude here. Not to mention, Little Jimmy probably wouldn't let him anyway with his not liking "problem children" (he more or less had Spree kicked off the team).
