his offensive playbook is horrid with a capital hurl. the good defensive of the knicks is wasted if all they do is chuck 3s.

I think we need to remember one thing....you can't make chicken salad from chicken ****.

Did this offense look good in Phoenix...yes.
Does it look good here...no...not when we miss shots...or have some players out there...
Do some of the players look like they can play this system....yes
Will this team be completely different next year...yes

D'Antoni is not going to change his style to fit a ****ty team for one year....push the system, see who can play it, and then makeover the team next year (and I am not simply pushing the Lebron plan...I mean, find players that can play this system)

Hey, I want the Knicks to be 82-0...not happening...let's just try to get through the pre-season and let the actual season get started...then let's look at who we think fits and start going from there.

Jesus people, it is game three of the pre-season...

When you have Wilson Chandler, Larry Hughes, and even Chris Duhon jacking up 3s at will, it's going to look ugly. Just take it to the freaking rack.

Listen.. it's the preseason and D'Antoni is stressing defense to a team full of players that hasn't played defense in years. It's going to take time and this is the exact reason why they play pre-season games. By the final game of the pre-season the defense and offense should both be running better together.

Judging by the way D'Antoni was reacting throughout the entire second half, I would say not him. Maybe Chris Duhon got them from some drunk chick he picked up at the club last night.

We went through this last year. It took one corrective - djsu's thread telling miketoni to knock off the 3's and get some ball movement happenning.

Dj do your magic.

The fellas played more minutes of solid, team-oriented, quick switching, screen busting, hands up, lane protecting DEFENSE tonight than in all of last year. Yes, they missed a lot of open looks. I am fairly rusty on occasion, too, but it doesn't mean I will always brick.

Sometimes tonight they moved the ball well, sometimes even too many passes (i.e., not taking an open look), and a lot of bricks got chucked. But there's going to be some shooting in MDA's system. I agree with the poster who wants the ball to go hard to the hole a bit more often, but when the shots are falling, this team will look downright dreamy if they play defense every night just like tonight.

Energy + Responsibility (especially on D) will mean wins. Tonight was the first time I actually considered the NYK maybe getting 40 wins. And if they keep up the intensity on D, I will start to believe the players view this year as a team "audition" to make MSG the King's Court. And if it should come to pass that we get our man, it will have been earned and deserved.

So there.

Its too many 3's going up period, win or lose. The funny thing is you can't blame the system cause the 3's are wide open looks. But for the love of god you have to drive the fkng drive ball into the painted area, to give yourself a legitimate shot, draw a foul, something.

You got Larry Hughs pulling up for a mid range clanker in transition with duhon under the basket for a easy layup, That's ridiculous.

and why in sweet jesus does larry hughs have the ball in his hands, running the offense with 10 seconds left in the first quarter.....it went something like this.....dribble dribble dribble dribbble (looks at clock and says oh ****, 4 secs left and i havent done anything).....pass to chandler who has someone in his grill - chandler shoots a 3 from the wing that clanks off the rim.......why does larry hughes suit up let alone run the offense at any time of the game????

Deep breaths, it's gonna be ok. Larry will be gone soon enough. Those shots will start dropping soon enough. And DLee will be the triple-double leader in the NBA and its MVP.

Ok, maybe not that last one.
