It's a threat alright. A threat to our sanity if they play like lazy disinterested bums again. It didn't take them long to show us why they are at best a 35 win team again this year.

you bring up a good point cosmic - how can anyone on this team not be playing at 100 miles an hour right now, leaving it on the floor for EVERY practice, scrimmage, game? i caught a few minutes of the boston game and it was embarrassing to say the leaset. if this is a team that is suppossed to be so promising, then why did they look disinterested the whole game. i mean, something like 8 points in the first quarter.....terrible. and, its only preseason. i would think by now that the team would at least compete. you think lebron or anyone wants to come to a mess like this? man if the lebron 2010 plan fails, the ny knicks will go into a deep deep deep blackhole - which may take another 10 yrs to fix. telly ou one thing, dantoni and walsh will be outta here like a thief in the night if this team shows nothing this year and lands no-one next year....bank that.

ONE FREAKIN GAME!!! Can we get off this tangent about the Knicks not wanting to compete and all that. It happens. Especially with this group which isn't the most fiery and aggressive bunch to begin with. Let's just see how they do on the whole this year. One thing you can't say about this team last year was that they didn't try! They were in just about every game or have you all forgotten that this group played pretty hard most of the time?

What we've seen so far is two examples of a team trying to get it's chemistry and balance straight. I'd love a max effort team, but really with Chan, Gallo still not on elite NBA level legs yet and guys just trying to figure things out, you're gonna have nights like that. If we play games and don't get supreme effort from Gallo and Chan that's like a HUGE chunk of our production missing. We must get good games consistently from Gallo and Chan. Al has been his usual self, but with Nate not on his game either that was just too many key guys not playing up to par. I don't think it's a major concern, cuz we just watched 82 games with these guys playing hard even if not winning ball.

if this sideshow act was going on across the water at the swampnets arena, EVERY SINGLE person on the board would be making fun of just how bad the personnel and effort is. because we have some type of hometown nurturing thing going on, it's a matter of just warming up a pacifier and another bottle of milk for our 'non elite legs', our overweight and unmotivated center wannabe, some dude named darko who cant hit the side of a brick building with a layup (see jared jeffries for offensive comparison), twitterin' nate, blah blah blah.......

nix, i can rewind your comments from the past 3 yrs and every single one is the same....it's just preseason, its just the first ten games, this one needs to get in shape, they need to mesh, chemistry, etc. not picking on you at all man, but my question still stands, no excuses, just tell me why this team doesnt play hard every night knowing that each and every one of their nba lives are at stake here...

Hey how's Chandler? Looks like he just knocked knees with someone. Anyone have an update on Wil? Will he be ready to go for tomorrow??

---------------------------------------------------------

I was away for a couple of days and just got done watching a replay of game 2 this morning. They certainly shot the ball poorly & didn't make their FTs but I still saw some good things esp. from Al, Lee, Douglas, Hill and Marcus Landry:

Harrington - looks to me like he's making a stronger effort to take it to the rim more so far this pre-season which is great. Love what I see from Al so far - he's assumed a much-needed leadership role on this club and he appears to be making a concerted effort to playing higher percentage basketball.

Lee - love the no hesitation on the jumper now. He even put up a 3 that nearly went down. Looks supremely confident taking jumpers now. Looks a lot more animated and vocal out on the floor now too. Like big Al, Lee also looked good attempting to take guys off the dribble as well. Great to see.

Douglas - shot it poorly again but that'll come, that's a strength of his so I'm not worried about him shooting the ball (he did hit a couple of jumpers in the end, including a late 3 with 2 guys drapped all over him). What I continue to notice is the ever improving penetration, handle & passing ability. He's made some mistakes but overall he's playing ball like a veteran contributor out there, not some deer-in-the-headlights rookie.

Hill - say what you want and continue to trash him if you like but there's no denying he's got skills and a good deal of potential as soon as some kinks get ironed out. I thought he made the most of his minutes againt the Celts. Still looked a little lost on D esp. when it came to switching off and closing out on guys out on the perimeter ('Sheed burned him a couple of times from behind the arc) but he was active and played pretty well overall. I think Hill may have earned himself a little more PT tomorrow against the Sixers. See this is what I'm talking about - he had a little bit of success the other day against Boston. Now I want to see him build on that.

Landry - played well and agressive in garbage time. Nice drive to the rim & finish with the left hand late in the game. Tommy Dee's got a clip of him up on his blog - this guy looks to be an active all-around guy with a nice slashing game, a little post up & a little bit of a jumper as well.

Oh God i'm so tired of this kind of post against me and my posts. It would be one thing if I was just spouting off pollyanna positive stuff with no grounds in reality, but I haven't been doing that. My posts have been about common sense and patience. Go ahead and dig up my past posts cuz I know exactly what i've been writing over the years. My posts and my stance has been exaggerated to make it seem like all I do is post flowers and kisses towards this team.

Tell me tho what is the grounds for a totally negative take on the team after 2 preseason games. One where the team looked ok and another where they stunk? What can be really determined from those first two games? Also what where the expectations to begin with? Did Gallo not spend most of the offseason healing and just started being cleared to get on the courts in September!!! Same with Chan not being able to go hard all summer. You think that might have a negative effect on their readiness? GEEZ!

How about this, we have a couple of key players that happen to be 21 and 22 yrs old. You think that if both of those guys had surgery after the season and had to stay off the practice courts that maybe that would effect the team negatively? They're not old vets that have their games together and don't need much work.

^^^you make fair points and i am not trying to attack you nix. at all, so apologies if i came across that way - forget the youngsters, they are young. i get that. but its not the rookies, its the players who have been in the league for a while that i worry about.....the nate's, eddy's, larry hughes, jared jeffries of this team that should be setting the tone - jury is out on harringtom also. words are ok, but their actions dont speak to 'i want to do what it takes to succeed at this level'. and i'm not talking about in practice only, but from what i saw from this squad in both preseason games, i aint impressed by their commitment level. and why should i give them a pass and wait and see, been there done that for like 10 years now. i am under the mind of show me something to earn my fandom back....what's so wrong about that?
