Said Allan Houston take on 1 hr team meeting: "Don brought a lot of things out of us. Most of it was Don asking what you could do to help the team. He went right to individuals. He's never done that before. He went down the line. How could you help and how could I make you help?"

The Knicks contend Chaney is doing his best and doesn't deserve the ax despite the 9-17 record.

"It was the one time we collectively said it's not on you, Don," Houston said. "Our job is to get wins so we don't have to worry about his future."

The one exception could be Thomas, who made a reference that he didn't like Chaney's handling of his removal from the starting lineup for Antonio McDyess.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

These guys can meet, sit down, pow wow, talk, watch film, fuss, complain, vent, moan, the same thing still applies, and that is this team is poorly put together with a bunch of very average players and a few good ones...... Period!!!

I enjoy your blind faith, take the angle the least people take so you can have an I told you so moment. Playa Chaney has had his chance, how many excuse are you going to make for the chump. I to backed him, but the blind faith you have is ridiculous. This guy sucks as a coach it may not be totally his fault but he isn't a winner and you know that. His past record speaks for itself. The players don't respect him its as simple as that. The players aren't stupid they respond to winners and they know that Chaney isn't a winner. They have computers and do the research on their coach and probably the thing that stands out to them all is that 12-70 season he had and all the other losing years he has had.

Now that hey had their meeting, if the Knicks get their azz whooped right after, what will your excuse be for Chaney. Just wait till after the all-star break. I understand giving someone a little rope to work with but Chaney has been given more rope than a lot of other coaches and some of them are winners.

Understand your loyalty to the Knicks but don't let it cloud your judgement on what is wrong with the team. There are many things wrong with the Knicks but it starts with the coach. You can't fire the whole team but you can fire the coach as a step in the right direction.

Not a single on the Knicks team; players, coaches, front office ppl, scouts; nobody on thi steam is worth sticking up for at all. There is absolutely no hope for this team. The knicks will get a high draft pick and hopefully its a franchise player.

The problem with the franchise player concept is the Knicks are currently the 6th worst team. THere are not a lot of franchise players who get picked that low it can happen every year some one drops that shouldn't. But it is more likely we'll end up with some one about as good as prevous number 6s. Look below - there are some good players NO franchise players and a lot of guys that were less then good:

2003 Kaman
2002 Wagner
2001 Battier
2000 Dermar Johnson
1999 Szcerbiak
1998 Traylor
1997 Mercer
1996 Walker
1995 Reeves
1994 Wright
1993 Calbert Cheaney
1992 Tom Gugliotta
1991 Doug Smith
1990 Felton Spencer
1989 Stacey King

By the way I think the Knicks last 6 was "Trent Tucker"

Thanks OldFan.

That is just great news. Now I can honestly say, THERE IS NO HOPE! Not even a lottery pick can save us!

Thank you oldfan for clearing that up. Now people can stop hoping for losses so that they get a high pick.

At least with Chaney, players don't get dissed in the media and players will never have to worry about Chaney walking out whenever the going gets tough.

It's on Layden now. This is the hand Chaney's been dealt. And as so-so job as he has done, I can't imagine anyone else stepping in and overcoming what he's had to overcome.

Point Guards are like catchers in baseball or drummers in a good jazz band. Tune and tempo and direction.

Red Auerbach had Bob Cousy.

Red Holzman had Walt Frazier.

KC Jones had Dennis Johnson.

Rudy T. had Kenny Smith Sam Cassell.

Chuck Daly had Isiah Thomas.

Padre Riles had Magic.

My question is what does Chaney have to work with? ward eisely Frank

Remember Chaney making it known to Layden a pressing need in pre-season about getting a point guard. Layden didn't come thru, he failed to deliver Milos, failed on Terry or Crawford or NVE. I feel a trade a comin........

Sweets and lamp were saying like we left Europe and G'town for this crap..

playa you are being foolish, sit down meeting or not, they can meet until next year and it still won't change the fact that this team is just outmatched most of the times!!!

Point guards are important but there have been some good teams that did not have very good point gaurds:

Shaq and Lakers before this year.
Jordan and the Bulls.
Duncan and Robinson First time around.
Oh and that team that never won but was competitive:
Ewing and the Knicks.

And no one is expecting Chaney to make this team as good as any of the above.
