NEW YORK, September 11, 2009 – New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Donnie Walsh announced today that free agent guard Gabe Pruitt has been signed to a contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Pruitt, 6-4, 170-pounds, has career averages of 2.0 points and 7.4 minutes in 62 games over two NBA seasons with the Boston Celtics. The Los Angeles, CA-native was selected by Boston, following his junior season at the University of Southern California, in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2007 NBA Draft. Pruitt averaged 2.1 points in 15 games as a rookie in 2007-08, but was inactive for the Celtics during the playoffs and NBA Finals. He averaged 2.0 points and 7.8 minutes in 47 games last season and appeared in four games for the Celtics in the first two rounds of the 2009 NBA Playoffs.

6'4" 170 pounds? Is he a counter balance to Curry? Talk about string bean- I think Nate weighs more.

Carter plays PF, Pruitt plays PG. Are these hedges against DLee and Nate holding out?

I think we might be sleeping on gabe. I remember him playing well against the Knicks in garbage time.not really much to go by but you gotta start froM the bottom to get to the top, right?

Just another kid to cheer for. Hope he Can play his way on the a good future with the Knicks

Celtic fans seem to like him and say all that was wrong was that: 1) he was behind too many guards to get time. 2) He is not a PG but was forced to try to be a PG - and is better off playing the SG position.

Other than that I don't know much.

Gabe Pruitt definitely is more of a scoring guard... but he's big and can make plays, can shoot a bit. At least that was the case for him in college. We'll see, if he can put it together here in NYC.

So basically we just signed a guy who may have the potential to be another Eddie House?

It's a training camp invite so who cares? If he ends up contributing anything to the team in the long run, it's a plus.

Devin Harris can run the point.
Gabe Pruitt can not.

In that I don't see the similarity.
