Ok so let me start by saying I think anyone with a brain knows Lebron James is not returning to Cleveland. There is just ZERO reason for him to still be unsigned if he in anyway had any intentions of returning. PERIOD. I asked Alan Hahn on twitter to gimmy one reason why Lebron would still be unsigned if he was going to return he responded "Leverage"... are you kidding me??? Like Lebron really needs to LEVERAGE a max deal from Cleveland. LOL.

I'd like to see one person debate with a GOOD argument why Lebron would still be unsigned if he was planning on staying.

With that said, its a matter of WHERE is he going? New York and Brooklyn are the 2 main options of course.. With Miami a distant 3rd.

this interview with Jay-Z and Stephen A Smith made me actually jump out of my seat in happiness because it shows, IMO that Jay-Z knows there is a real strong possibility he will end up in Orange and Blue.

The part im talking about is literally the last thing he says in the interview.

by leverage hahn may mean that he wants to pressure the organization to work on making sure the team remains a contender...

and i'm one of those who argues there is a good chance he comes to the knicks.

I guess you guys missed this article in the Post today:

LeBron a Knick? Mom says no

Knick fans who are counting on LeBron James to join the hapless team after his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers expires next year had better have a Plan B.

The hoops star's mother, Gloria, told Page Six it's not happening. "He's a hometown boy," she said. LeBron grew up in Akron, Ohio, but his home now is Cleveland.

The Jameses were at the Monkey Bar for the book party Graydon Carter threw for "Shooting Stars" (Penguin Press), the story of LeBron's team at St. Vincent-St. Mary HS and their coach, Dru Joyce II.

Screw his mom if she tries to convince him to stay. She's probably just too lazy to move.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

The "leverage" that he's gaining with the Cavs by remaining unsigned is that they will stay desperate to trade for whatever talent they can that could help convince him to stay.

That's my take on it. Their front office operates like they have a gun to their backs at times.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I understand the idea that LeBron may want to hold a gun to management to force them to constantly upgrade roster.... which is a little weird because it also suggests that management would be happy to just get into the playoffs and are not ultimately putting together a championship team at all costs without the yearly gun-to-head forcing that LeBron has to do.

Here is another angle: LeBron re-signs now, and because of that, outside investors would pour more money into that franchise (knowing he is staying) as they have done in the past (Chinese) and that would afford management to trade for more expensive players and to go further over the cap.

OR ... LeBron re-signs now and attracts players at lower cost. Did the Cavs miss out on Rasheed Wallace who signed with Boston for 3 years at the MLE cause LeBron wouldn't commit to Cleveland? hmmm.

Im sure his entourage, including Gloria has been instructed to say nothing, but if you must just say he is staying. Better to say that than have to retract any statement.

One thing is that Lebron is branding Lebron. Any bit of news regarding anyting is free advertising so they will leverage that also.

Lebron Mania will sweep the nation this season. Every stop he will be asked and get press just on that subject alone. That kind of exposure would cost millions upon millions if you had to buy that kind of exposure.

Jay Z even talking about does it also!

I don't see how you build an arena in 12 mos as Jay Z states but if they can get by 2011 That would be somthing.

Lebron is Brooklyn? ITs very doable!

I still think Lebron going to New York is our own wishful thinking. Leverage over the Cavs IMO is about 90% of the reason he has not signed an extension and 10% of the reason is because he wants to leave his options open. However, just because he is leaving his options open does not mean he really intends to leave. THings would really have to go bad for the Cavs this year for Lebron to jump ship. Lebron is a international icon with or without New York. There is no pressure for him to come here. Cavs would have to do worse than expected and we would have to perform better than expected before I think he would seriously consider making a move.
