I refuse to post the article...

First Rubio, then Flynn and the rest of the point guards they drafted...now they might sign Sessions to an offer sheet???

Fuck the T'Wolves, word

LOL so much for the Kahn-Walsh connection. Maybe people have it wrong. Maybe Kahn hates Donnie .

He's playing fantasy basketball...he knows point guards fill the stat sheet...and they can fil the 2 guard slots plus 2 utilities...if he starts 2 point guards they could both get sg eligibility....

Bucks Sessions on brink of offer sheet?
Posted by: gwoelfel at 10:39PM CST on September 3, 2009
BY GERY WOELFEL
Ramon Sessions could be approaching the end of his long and unpredictable free agency odyssey.
Sessions, a restricted free agent who wound being the Bucks' starting point guard last season after just two years in the NBA, could be on the verge of receiving an offer sheet.
Surprisingly, it might not come from the New York Knicks or the Los Angeles Clippers -- two teams that have heavily courted Sessions since the commencement of free agency on July 1.
According to some NBA officials, Sessions may wind up signing with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves are in the market for a guard after their top choice in the 2009 draft -- Ricky Rubio -- recently decided to play for Regal FC Barcelona.
Neither Sessions nor Chubby Wells, Sessions' agent, could be reached for comment Thursday night. Ditto for Timberwolves president David Kahn.
If Sessions does sign an offer sheet with the Timberwolves, the Bucks would have seven days in which to match it. That is highly unlikely, though...

The RealGM Wiretap article says that Kahn has $3.7M left from his midlevel exception to use on Sessions. This would indicate to me that Walsh could get Sessions for $4M/yr or less, so he really is sticking to the sign and trade deal idea, and the money is not the biggest issue for him.

Sessions and his agent, if they take this offer, must figure that Ramon will be able to get a bigger payday in two years, but from my perspective, this is risky, especially if Flynn is the real thing and Sessions' minutes, and the numbers he would use for his next contract, would be limited.

Expect another Briggs post tomorrow when he hears about this.

As for Kahn and Minnesota- who knows what is going on with them. Perhaps this is Kahn's face-saving deal- designed to give Flynn an experienced backup.

I suspect Milwaukee would match that offer and then look to trade him mid season.

This is Walsh's second blunder, which is a direct result of his first blunder. If you knew you were not going to give Nate a long-term deal, why in the world didn't you trade him with Jeffries to clear more cap space. Now Walsh is about to lose out on a guy I think could be ready to blowup into a starting caliber pg, a guy we could have for $4 mill per, and Walsh passes on him. We have just as good a chance of trading Curry as we do of signing Lebron, so why not sign Sessions and then focus on trading Curry and Jeffries.

This is why most teams don't let these things linger. When you wait around other teams' situations change and new competitors come out of nowhere.

Making a decision on a guy and moving forward is not a "panic move." Signing JJ1 was a "panic move" because the guy had a history of not working and we only signed him because we needed a center. Sessions has no such history. He has produced solid numbers as a starter and is entering just his third year. That is not a panic move. That is simply identifying your guy and going to get him.

If Sessions wants to increase his value, Minny is not the place for that. They're a wreck over there. The Knicks would be so much better for him.

Is this like when the Clippers and Sactown were "lining up" to sign Sessions about a month ago?

I think Kahn has to cover himself. To trade for the fifth pick and then get nothing for it for at least two years is going to sit badly with Wolves fans. The fact that he took two point guards also had to be a bit puzzling for them. Kahn appears to be learning on the job.

Kahn is fine. He drafted Flynn who is going to be a great player in this league. Maybe he could have taken Deron or earl clark or traded down and got another rotation player. But Foye and Miller weren't going to get the team to the playoffs and who knows how good Rubio becomes. They own his rights and the team is a couple of years away from being a contender or a nice team so in two years he trades the guy and gets nice talent. He had to pick him there

I was against dumping Nate for nothing, but how did Walsh & MDA not know at the deadline what they were planning to do with Nate? Maybe they thought they could S&T this off season, but still, they should have known they had no plans for him.

Then, the deal would have been Nate & Jeffries for Sessions & perhaps a second rounder from Sac.

Seriously, for all the second guessing that goes on- I think there is a legit issue with a lack of planning on the part of Walsh as far as Nate is concerned.

I love the Flynn pick and agree that Miller and Foye were not great players, but you have to do more with the 5th pick. They could have traded down and gotten Derozan and given themselves a whole new backcourt. Maybe Rubio blows up and Kahn can trade him to other team for a solid player. I don't see how Rubio and Flynn can play on the same team. Both will need the ball in their hands.

The offer is supposed to be from left over mid-level money. Was Minny over the cap last year?

There does not seem to be alot of substance to this article. RealGm's summary has information about the midlevel that is not actually in the article. After reading it this was the source for the rumor that there is an offer sheet that I could find.

.According to some NBA officials, Sessions may wind up signing with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves are in the market for a guard after their top choice in the 2009 draft -- Ricky Rubio -- recently decided to play for Regal FC Barcelona.
