There may not be many of us--but I will speak out. I don't want him to leave Cleveland--that's his team and his fans--millions of Clev fans. Think about if Lebron was a Knick and wanted to leave and then you will see what I am saying. It wrecks the sport. If Clev didnt want to pay him or werent going all out to win--then I would have a different opinion--but they are going all out and the fans are all in. If he leaves he's an arsehole especially to a team who is clearly in the shtter.
I hope Lebron has some character and loyalty to something other than himself. I like to build I dont like to steal.

lebron and wade have really made it clear that they are bigger than their team and their fanbase.

the knicks should be rebuilding their own team and not hope for a savior to jump ship galloping on a horse but i'm sure many knicks fans don't share the same sentiment.

the best 4 players throughout the yankee dynasty were jeter, mariano, bernie and andy.

the best player on the knicks through the 90's was ewing.

the best player on the magic, cavs and heat were all drafted by their respective teams.

and i think lebron leaving cleveland would kill that franchise. unlike when carter left toronto, their is no bosh on the bench in cleveland.

with that said, the knicks are about making money...and lebron = money.

Papabear Says
Character?? Let me tell you something it's not about character, it's about the game. New York is the meca of basketball and we have no team. By Lebon coming to New York the revenue for the NBA will grow. No body cares about us so to hell with them. The NBA right now is designed to hold the Knicks back. They should raise the cap to 100 mil. Hey some teams will have to stay at 40 - 50 mill in order to survive but the Knicks can spend 100 million per year and still make money. We could get 3 or 4 super stars. If we get James I won't feel sorry for Cleveland. They can get another lottery pick when James leave and they go to the lottery and we win a championship

the Yankees were built with a nice farm system but they weren't going to win without mercenaries from Jimmy Key to David Cone to David Wells to El Duque to Wettland to .. etc...

Pettitte and Rivera were the only homegrown pitchers who did anything.

Everything comes down to business. I have a small spot in my heart for guys that get to stay with their original team til they retire, but really it's crazy to think that it's realistic in today's world. Guys get traded or guys go where the money is. If it benefits the team they get traded. If it benefits the player he signs with another franchise. If they don't get it done this year and he wants to move on so be it.

In the regular season, yes. But in the postseason, without the imported arms we would've been no different than the Cleveland Indians.

It happens.. Its part of the game. Go back to the Shaq example. We are talking about the most dominating bigman of our generation lost. A few years later they gut the team and were poised to restart built around a dynamic pair of wings in Grant Hill and McGrady. Obviously health problems derailed that plan. They stink for a bit and in comes DHoward.

Franchises has survived such things.

As for the Knicks and their "savior" what would you do? This team is a total mess and the Knicks had too many veterans to get the #1 pick and have no pick this year. So what can you do? Clean house, try for a FA draft BPAs. No?

I like the Shaq example and also look at the Celtics and KG.

KG was the Timberwolves Franchise and he left town for greener pastures. I do not think it is that big of a deal but BRIGGS made a good point that Cleveland has shown its committed to winning. Minesota did too for a while when they had Spree and Cassell but it fell apart quickly. I could see the same thing happening in Cleveland.

KG was traded though... they pulled the plug on that era.

The Magic went to the finals with Shaq and Penny. They added veteran role players along those two. I would certainly say that the Magic were commited to winning.

Is Shaq's legacy that he left Orlando high and dry for tinsel town?

Shaq played 4 years for the Magic and 8 for the Lakers.

Lebron will have 7 years in Cle and I would say at least 12 in NY if he comes here.

Is Cle a better sports town than NY?

Based on what he wants to do in life I would be suprised if he didnt comes here.

My post was agreeing with you, the point is this is a business and players leave for various reasons - it always works out.

The only way I could see it destroying a legacy is if the player did not win at his next stop. Shaq won championships in LA and that erased his booking it out of Orlando, same thing with KG. While they may have left under different circumstances, it is two franchise players moving to different teams.

If you don't like the KG example then see Steve Nash.
