Paul Millsap's contract is listed as $10,300,000 $6,200,000 $6,700,000 $7,200,000

Can someone check the CBA? If Milsap got this why couldnt we give Lee $15mm and $3mm? Is there some range that needs to be followed?

Portland front-loaded their offer sheet with a signing bonus.

I don't think the contract actually hits the cap like that though. I think the signing bonus is apportioned over each year of the contract.

His actual first year salary is more like $5.7M plus the signing bonus. the next year salary is $6.2M plus 1/4 of the signing bonus - at least in terms of cap hit.

In real money, Portland put a clause in that the money had to be paid within ten days of signing - which I did not know anyone could do.

I would assume DW and the Knicks have a handle on this but its interesting. DW has a long history of giving his players healthy extension. Artest, Croshere, Jalen Rose, Bender, Harrington, Jermaine Oneil, Brad Miller, Reggie Miller, Tinsley... DW never hesitated to give his guys big money. He also never hesitated to trade them a year into that contract, but thats life in the NBA. Point is the guy has a history of paying well.
