If Eddy and Jared were traded today - would Lee and Nate get paid?

Put out of your mind whether or not you would want to keep Lee, trade Nate - or trade Lee and keep Nate. Think of them as a packaged deal. If Eddy and Jared were dumped today for 2010 expirings - would Lee and Nate get paid? Lee=10M, Nate=6M. ????
Lee and Nate would get paid 10 and 6M
Donnie would still want 6M and 3M
Same problems would persist (Lee wants 12, Nate wants 7)

I think they'd reach some kind of agreement although I think it might be closer to 5 yr $45 mil for Lee and 4 years, $24 mil for Nate

No, I mean, that would be foolish. There is nothing about that scenario that would make Donnie abandon his plan and M.O. and foolishly overspend on those two fellas.

same problem - Lee and Nate want more than Walsh is willing to offer, and they will both wait until they are unrestricted next year.

^right, that is true. unloading JJ and Curry would only affect our 2010 plans. the price and future worth of nate and lee have been determined long ago and donnie isn't one to lavishly overspend on impulse.

Actually, I don't think it would matter. If the plan is the sign two max if possible, losing Curry and Jeffries allows that but we could not overpay Lee and Nate. The real question is who does Walsh and MDA want here longterm. I don't think they like Nate anymore and I think they are lukewarm on Lee due to his defensive limitations.

He never ask would donnie over spend to sign them, he simply ask would they already be signed. I think so, it's all about the benji's yes, but walsh also has to surround the max players with solid players, and we have quite a few expiring contracts that will expire. So regardless to what, they both are solid players who would receive decent contracts giving the circumstances.

I honestly feel the only player that will get resigned next season is Al.

The market has established a lower price for those two guys. Donnie isn't going to hand them over a bonus just because people like them. They are asking for too much. ANd they offer too little value for the money.

A related question I've wondered about is, how much would they get paid if the NBA abandoned the salary cap starting this off-season. My guess is they wouldn't hesitate to re-sign David for $9 mil per and Nate for $5 mil per.

If he were able to trade both Curry and Jeffries....Nate would still be gone but I think he would still offer Lee what the market dictates. Lee is not worth 12 mill per.
I don't care how much cap money we have.
Walsh is turning us into a respectable organization with fiscal responsibility.
AND IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME!!!
