What do you prefer an Elliptical Workout or Treadmill Workout. For my cardio I prefer the Elliptical as it seems to be harder and don't put any pounding on your knees. I feel I burn more sweat on an Elliptical than a treadmill. Any thoughts?

I think the treadmill is better for improving cardio and getting a great workout, but it is harder on your knees and running outside is better exercise overall.

I think the elliptical is also a good workout, but not as good as the treadmill. If you do it for a longer period of time you may get the same benefit cardio and calorie wise, and you save some of the impact on your knees. Maybe if you are putting it on a very high resistance you are getting a better workout but I am not sure.

To me the best is to mix it up - I definitely use the elliptical on a regular basis but I think it is better for maintaining and getting into great shape (this depends on how you use it though). The True Strider seems to be the best I have used so far - its like a cross between cross country skiing and running. I get a great workout on it, and I also like to run 1-2 times per week.

elliptical machines are easier on the back and/or knees if you've had prior injuries to those areas. personally - elliptical over treadmill everyday....and better for less pounding on the joints too.

to each their own... running is a better workout because your exerting your body how it was intended to be exerted. elliptical is a smoother motion (except with how the bars jerk your arms) but it isn't as intense of a workout--all things be equal. I suppose you're sweating more because you're pushing yourself harder, faster, better, stronger on the elliptical. Sweat has a lot to do with level of exertion and length of respiration.

my advice is to go what works for you and if that's elliptical keep on keepin on

The treadmill is OK if you want to walk fast on an incline, but you can't hold on to anything for that. If you do hold on to the bars or whatever though, then you're not getting much.

Otherwise, I prefer the elyptical because it's easier on your knees and you're also using more muscles. The precor is a little better though.

You might as well just wake up and go for a run if you're in the mood for the treadmill.

Depends on the resistance level on the treadmill vs elliptical. The elliptical is not that far off in quality of workout. Elliptical is the way to go.

In the "orangeblobman" way of thinking, the tread mill is the best but you have to turn it off, let the gears get rusty, glue glass shards in the tread, get nakit, and put a rabid squirrel up your ass.

The calories you'll burn fighting off a deadly disease is great!!!!

Thats right I mix up the Rockys. They are going to have Rock 1000 where he is in a walker with boxing gloves on the end.
