Just waived by the Clippers at the end of July and for the life of me, I can't believe nobody's snatched him up yet. A guy with that type of ability at such a nominal cost??? Really unbelievable. If the Knicks are still interested in another guard to help out Duhon with the workload, to assist in bringing Toney Douglas along slowly, and/or to add some backcourt scoring punch on the cheap in the event Nate's not retained this kid makes a lot of sense. At the very least, say we picked him up & he failed to show any maturity toward becoming a true PG right away, there's still a ton to like here. The important thing here is that he's young and has room to grow into a more than decent player. A lot of potential here. We need to be taking chances on guys like this --- Gimmie young, inexpensive players with promise at this point, baptize them ASAP to see who can play & who can't (and do it at the NBA level, forget the NBDL - the D-League's a waste of time plus, in Taylor's case, he's already excelled there), add the big FA in 2010 or 2011, then think about adding a veteran presence to help solidify things once we have something decent in place. I really can't understand the facination with adding more of a veteran presence to a team that's not even talented enough to make the playoffs yet (Harrington, Duhon and Hughes is enough of a vet presence for now IMO). We're only in the process of laying the foundation right now. Once we have some good talent & stability in place then we can talk about finalizing with some veteran help. Back in the day, we added Derek Harper to a solid, battle-tested core that was ready to win more or less and it worked out well. Adding Harper to a team comprised of inexperienced, less talented players however wouldn't have had nearly the same type of impact... Back to Taylor -- he also has decent height at 6'2", a good handle, he's athletic & quick as hell with big-time hops (dude's looking to dunk the ball on the finish), & he can score from anywhere in a variety of ways. Real scorer's mentality and you gotta love his confidence - this kid came into the Garden and put on a show last year with a huge 35 point performance.

Yet another young guy that's worth taking a chance on for us. Best case scenario - a scoring guard that'll wind up exhibiting enough PG skills in due time - maybe never on a Tony Parker level but say something closer to Jerryd Bayless/Jeff Teague or to a lesser degree Aaron Brooks. Worst case - Nate Robinson, only for something like $500,000-$1 million not $5 million per. Forget Jamaal Tinsley, go get me this guy. At least invite him to training camp. If he doesn't work out, fine. At least we can say we tried. We should try and pick him up now before someone else does. Nothing to lose, everything to gain. There too much talent there not to at least be curious, no??
