Also, can someone educate me on how buying out a player works. Can we just buy out Eddy and JJ so that they dont count against the cap in 2010?

I think we will unload Eddy. They will showcase him the first 3 months and trade him to someone willing to take a risk. JJ will be tricky.

Curry, if he plays well, will move as he has unique skills/size combination coveted by teams. Weight makes a huge difference in the low post, especially with a skillset that uses agility, like Eddie's. I am not an Eddie fan, but there's no denying that (in shape) the man can flat out score in the low post. Maybe his new body shape will enable other, as yet unseen dimensions to his game. He's really very agile for such a big guy.

I think JJ will have to be moved with another contract. Lee and N8 stick out as obvious candidates, but it could be a player like Duhon or Harrington or Hughes. Let's hope so. I would rather have Lee on a one year, and then maybe go into luxury tax land to resign him if he pans out as a starting caliber player.

Either way, I think we will do everything possible to move those two contracts, as they are the last remaining hurdles to maximum flexibility. It's a great plan, no matter what talent we lose, as long as the core remains intact (Gallo, Chandler, Hill, Douglas).

And if either of those deals involves getting Rubio here... booya. That would be something to celebrate.

You can easily jared jeffries right around the trading deadline in feb 2010. just look at Mr.Snicker bar/Twix eating Jerome James. He makes the same $$ as jeffries and had 1 yr left on his contract at end of the 2009 season.

Curry will play like Zach Randoplh did in novemeber of last yr, blowing up his stock value. Thats where a team will take a chance on Curry just as the Clippers did with ZACH R.

Curry is a big man that can post up so you can see the lack of big men in the league..

The Future. GO KNICKS!

Why not to trade Eddy and Jeffries straight for LeBron?
The salaries are matching perfectly

I never miss an opportunity to score a boobie. Without boobie, there is NO deal.

both. JJ will go in a cash deal including Mobley's contract that will save a team significant money over the 2 years.

Curry is 26 and will be able to play. He's going to score in this offense and someone will take a shot on him. 6'11 guys that shoot 55% are not a dime a dozen.

Knicks wont panic because thats DW's MO.

Not only do I think Curry will be traded, but I think people on this board will be moaning we should have gotten more like they did when Zach got traded. right now people would trade Curry for a case of hemroids. In mid Dec when the Knicks are .500 and Curry is scoring with ferver in the post you just know people are going to bitch and moan about DW not getting enough for him.

I promise, I will not bitch and moan. I complained a little about Randolph because IMO, he was not that bad a player. While he was still a gunner, he had toned it down a little at the beginning of last season, was playing decent, albeit still poor, defense, and was starting to develop some chemistry with passing into Lee. The team was playing well with him. IMO, the only reason he had to go was because he made too much money.

Now with Curry, you just cannot rely on the dude and he is not a warrior. This dude will crumble in the heat of the playoffs and there is only a 10% chance he stays in shape beyond this season. This guy has HOF talent but no motivation. He should be playing on 1 year contracts for the rest of his career. If we got a bar of soap for Curry, I would be happy and I don't care if he is putting up 18 pts and 7 rbs by Christmas. The guy just has to go. THe only thing that would change my mind is if he were putting up 6 ast a game to go along with the 18pts and had somehow learned how to pass and score without turning the ball over every 60 seconds.

everyone already knew that about Dampier and one of the best run orgs in the sport STILL gave him a massive contract. The Magic matched a 5 years $35mm deal for a 5 point 4 reb backup. From Bogut to Bargs, Dampier, Kaman, on and on and on... big men are a commoditiy and Curry's age, size and ability to score will make him way easier to move than people think.

Everyone here is jaded, and I agree that Curry isnt someone you count on but he's young and working out and is focused on playing ball next year. He's going to be able to score and score alot in this system. People wrote off Zach saying there was no way this guy would fit in MDA's system and I predicted he would have a great year.

Curry doesnt need to show up looking like Mike Strahan to be good next year. So long as he's working out and has his legs he will be fine. I am sure he's the starter and gets 25 minutes right out of the gate.

Is it really that far fetched? Curry isnt Jerome (yet). He's no dummy either. He knows big money is out there if he puts in a modest effort. He will be ready to play and do what he's always done. Score with ease.

He's a good guy also and that does help.
