No sensible player that wants to win now is coming here unless we are very impressive this year. When i see no other team even made a serious pitch for kidd or hill, that says volumes about who we are and where we are.

Quite frankly we are going to end up building through the draft and hope our players develope fast, i dont believe one single FA will sign with us with this current roster on tap. The only way Lee and Nate leave this team is by trade IMO.

Our only hope is to pray this roster gets off to a monster start, I think more then any thing the playoffs are a must for several reason we already discuss. I think Donnie (judging by the vegas summer league comments) knows our real only hope is to get these young players better, get curry relevent and hope lee and nate give in. I dont think were getting anybody unless it's a SnT.

Or ( to take a line from MDA) HOPE WE GET LUCKY.

2010 depends on how Gallo, The Mayor, Hill and Douglas perform this year. All 4 will have great years IMHO. I think Darko will make a big impact this conning season as well.

Everyone is saying that it is important how Hill and Douglas play this year for the future. I cant see either one of them getting more than 10-15 minutes per game.

If you read the entire article Wade says the Knicks will be back and that he likes D's system but doesn't say it anymore because everyone says are you going to ny. Miami is Wade's team and my guess is Spolestra is Wade's coach. Miami has a great climate and players do not have to pay state income tax. Wade not coming to NY is a given. However, there are other free agents in 2010 that the Knicks want. Falk just said that Bron's next contract would be decided by endorsement potential. My guess is that the Knicks end up with Amare in 2010 and continue to be fiscally responsible so that they can add more players.

So what is the problem. If we are going to build through the draft what does it matter that we will also make an attempt for a big time free agent. If we can't get one, our plan hasn't changed, so again, what is the complaint?????????????

I'm really not complaining. I read an article I commented on it, I suggested that it would be in our best interest to make the playoffs, and hope our players get better and there values increase so we can possible make a trade or 2 to upgrade.. And all of a sudden I'm bitching, crying and complaining.

This maybe a discussion we had already but certain things are becoming painfully obvious. If you think walsh is following his initial plan then your not smart after all. A lot has change since his debut and I'm almost certain he didn't predict these obstacles.

"you are not smart after all"-This is all you have to validate your point. Good one.

Instead of throwing out 4th grade insults why not just discuss the topic. So you think things have changed. You think obstacles have come up. You and I agree on this brilliant in-depth analysis. You and I probably also agree that this is what happens when you build a team. If it was formulaic and things did not change then everyone would be able to build a championship team. Unfortunately things do change and fall apart from time to time, so you adapt. A good GM will have a back up plan so he is not completely starting over if his Plan A fails.

Walsh has said from the beginning he wants to go after a star. He has said that there are several ways to get one, but getting under the cap may be the quickest way(considering we don't have a draft pick in 2010 who can argue with this, getting under the cap gets us in position to make trades/sign free agents). Not sure if those are his exact words but I think I'm close. Now Donnie has never said that going after Lebron is his only plan. That is a media creation that is being followed by fans. He is going to get under the cap go after big time players and if he can't pull it off(the reasons for not pulling it off are irrelevant, doesn't matter if the the cap is lowered, or the player doesn't want to come here), what are we left with? We are left with a young team with tons of expiring contracts.

What else has become painfully obvious? Maybe you just aren't expressing yourself clearly and that's why people think you are complaining.

You may be correct. That's a tall order, can he pull it off that remains to be seen. The good news is that if he fails in this plan you are still left with a young core, expiring contracts and are playing for a 2011 top pick. you can also sign the same type of second/third/fourth tier free-agents that fans are dying for us to pursue this year, but at least we would have tried to get two stars. This is a better scenario than Isiah's plan in which Plan A failed and we were stuck with long-term contracts of guys that led us to 23, 33 and 24 wins.

I'm still not sure I entirely understand what anyone has a problem with. Passing up on Sessions? Okay, hasn't happened yet but if it does, maybe that's a loss. Maybe the two picks aren't any good. Still remains to be seen. The arguments just make little sense to me. Maybe I am stupid.

These are the main arguments against Walsh
1.) We passed up on future stars for 2 horrible picks(even though one hasn't played and the other was injured last year)
2.) We have no chance to get Lebron so let's compete for a title by going after Sessions, Villanueva, Hedo Turkoglu, Lamar Odom
3.) We are bringing in old washed up guys(even though none have been signed so who cares)
4.) We haven't signed Lee or Nate(even though no one seems to want them at the salaries they are looking for)
5.) We are mortgaging our future for Lebron (even though if we don't get Lebron we still have our #6, #8, #23, #29 and possibly Lee and/or Nate on the roster along with expiring contracts and cap space.

Someone please explain where I'm going wrong on this list.
