Probably, yes.

Cavs roster without LeBron is old and crappy.

With Lebron the Knicks are probably the 2nd or 3rd best team in the East. At this point, they would still be behind Boston and likely (but not definitely)Orlando.

However, Atlanta, Chicago, and Detroit would all be in the conversation...but a step below.

Another way to look at it...take Lebron off of Cleveland. How does that team do compared to the current Knicks.

i don't agree with that in terms of comparison. the team is built a specific way around lebron. they probably target different players if lebron is not there.

hmm...lets see, well for starters their second best option, Mo Williams, is almost exactly equivalent to Nate Robinson.

The Cavs big men are comprised of cats that are either over the hill - Wallace, immobile - Illgauskas, or marginally talented energy players - Verajao. Darko is better than all three.

I'll give them the nod at PG, Delonte knows what he's doin, but thats a slight nod. The Knicks have a way more talented squad and if we're dealing with hypotheticals at this point, I dont see how one couldnt surmise that Knicks would be better.

Good question...I guess I was assuming Lee and Nate were with them. At the same time I am thinking that Duhon is the PG.

You made a good point that Cleveland is built around Lebron...with that in mind, if Lebron was added to the Knicks, what areas would we need to improve upon the most?

ok.

what would the knicks starting 5 look like and their rotation. the cavs are a half court defense first team. the knicks would have a much different look. who plays where?

if the knicks get lebron, imho, chandler would either have to start at the sg spot or move to the bench. gallo can't start either and as of right now, he's the only shooter. the knicks would have to get a catch and shoot pg who's not a seive on the defensive end. can lee + darko + eddy provide enough defense to advance far in the playoffs?

nash was an all star in dallas. marion put up crazy #'s and amare was a beast in the post since he was on another athletic level. those 3 pieces get the suns very far b/c of their freak athleticism.

lebron is better than all of those players but the freak athleticism from the other spots are not there. neither is the elite shooting or defense. so i think the team would need to change alot of the roster. i think nate can play the point for the knicks. i think you can get away with chandler at the sg. but the 4/5 rotation would need major work. darko may be able to find a spot but the reality is that if the knicks sign lebron, alot of these other guys would have to be renounced.

PG Duhon < West
SG Nate = Mo
SF Bron = Bron
PF Lee >>>> Verajao
C Darko >> Illgaukaus

Would have to trade either Hughes, Chandler, or Harrington with Bron that would create a logjam. Probably Harrington --- we could probably get something good for him. Probably another big.

Our bench of Gallo, Hughes, Hill, Chandler, Curry would at its absolute worst be slightly as Joe Smith, Powe, Wallace, Sasha P, Wally z...but more than likely would crap all over the Cavs if they realize their potential.

Until they go to another team, yes.

but we can't sign them along with LeBron so that's a false assumption
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I think the lineups sans LeBron are pretty similar - I will include Lee and not Nate.

What I do think you have to take account for is the fact that LeBron makes players better around him. I think Chandler and Gallo get the biggest boosts, same for Lee. I think Gallo would jump up a level or two if he were playing with LeBron, he would get so many easy and wide open jumpers, it wouldnt even be funny. I also think Gallos court vision would mesh nicely with LeBrons. Chandler/LeBron might clash but I think they would work it out offensively. I think Darko gets a nice bump. He's already a good shotblocker and rebounder, I think he even gets more easy baskets... same goes for Lee, he would get even more easy baskets.

I think the lineups are pretty similar and I do think LeBron would really take to this system and that these guys on the roster would be excellent to play MikeD's style WITH LeBron.
