Knicks checking up on Eddy's progress
10:28 AM By Alan Hahn

Eddy Curry has been in Ocean City, N.J. since Aug. 1 to continue his offseason regimen with his trainers, Jerry Powell and Tommy Weatherspoon. According to multiple sources, the Knicks will find that Curry is down another 10 pounds since they saw him in Las Vegas last month, when the embattled center spent two days working out with the summer league team.

Knicks president Donnie Walsh made the trip to Ocean City on Tuesday to check up on Curry. It is the third time Walsh has seen Curry since the end of the season.

Curry, 26, who appeared in just two games this past season because of knee and conditioning issues, weighed about 328 in July, which, according to Weatherspoon, was 30 pounds lighter than he was at the end of the NBA season. As of Tuesday, Curry is said to be at about 318 pounds, which is near the ideal weight range that Weatherspoon has set as Curry's playing weight.

Curry's listed weight is 285 pounds, which hasn't been accurate since his early days with the Chicago Bulls. Weatherspoon, who has trained pros in the NFL and MLB during the past two decades, told Newsday in July that anyone who believes Curry will ever play again at 285 is "delusional." Weatherspoon said 300 to 315 pounds is where the 6-11 Curry should be.

Curry was under the watchful eye of Mike D'Antoni, Donnie Walsh and even Garden chairman James Dolan in Vegas and the Knicks came away pleased with the progress.

Curry is expected to continue his regimen in Ocean City for the rest of the month and move to the Knicks practice facility sometime in September to reunite with his teammates before training camp opens on Sept. 29 in Saratoga

10 lbs of fat or 10 lbs of water? If he is taking supplements to lose it then its all water and means nothing, if he is doing it the right way then I applaud his efforts and hope he can play this year.

its good news. I could care less about the weight #. Whats important is he's been working out all summer and wont pull a hammy the minute he moves faster than walking.

Curry hasnt been 285 since he was 15. Anyone looking at his frame knows.

Probably the only guy here but I expect him to be what he was... a great scorer in the post and thats about it, and thats just fine with me

I was in Ocean City while Eddy was there and I did not see a beached whale.. I question the validity of this story.

He's not going to average a double double, ever. Teams are going to be attracted to the fact that he can score and he's big AND agile. He's never going to be a big rebounder when he averaged 7 rebounds AT BEST. He's never going to be a shotblocker. Don't place your expectations that high. He is what he is. A low post scorer.

if Curry puts up his career 14/6/55% some GM will take him. He's 26 with a two year deal. 6'11 guys that can score like that are the same as guys that throw 99 mph. Somewhere someone will take a shot on that

Getting in shape is one thing. Getting in game shape is another. I predict he's getting better with his fitness cuz this trainer he's working with is putting his reputation on the line but his remarks and such...if he says Eddy is working....Eddy is working.

Btw....talk about his fitness? What about his game. Eddy put up big numbers with Isiah but the dude is not a thinking mans basketball player. He's not a smart passer and he's not good receiving post passes and passing out of the post.

Early in Eddy's career they had him playing reciever off pick and rolls and dump offs. I think D'antoni is gonna put him in that roll. I can't see D'antoni all of a sudden playing a post offense just cuz Eddy is there. Like I said Eddy isn't even good at it. D'antoni didn't have Shaq down there clogging the lane all thee time....its interesting.

But let me say this also.....eddy is a legit center and if he is in shape and producing....he's not the same as Zach anc Craw. Eddy procucing with his size at the center spot is a valuable piece to have....**** 2010.

Wow, if he keeps losing weight at this pace, it won't be long before he garners consideration for the next ALBA tourney. Oh wait, forgot he only has man boobs and his arse is so big most modern computer screens lack the pixels to display all of it.

He needs to lose some more. He won't have Q to pull him up and down the court when they run in practice this year.

This.

I'll never forget the story about Tim Thomas' boxing regimen that was supposedly going to take his game to the next level. He was just so focused and prepared to have the best season of his career!

All these PR pieces need to be taken with a grain of salt, but given Curry's situation and our expectations I cant help but feel slightly encouraged. This certainly isnt bad news, so far.

lol, I remember that. That was pretty funny, especially since we all knew what kind of player TT was/is.

That TT stuff was during one of the funnier times on this board. Guys were guaranteeing a 20 and 10 year because TT was taking boxing lessons. Some of the arguments were hilarious....... As for Eddie I'm in the same boat as Sebstar. What we are hearing is far better than hearing all the stuff we heard last year, and seeing him go through all the negativity he went through last year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but this is Eddie.....
