Gundy had no center ( EWING injured ), no pf ( CAMBY injuried ), no sf ( LJ injuried ), no pg that could penetrate & no bench and he won consistantly encluding a trip to the finals. On the other hand, Chaney has a center ( DEKE ), 2 good pf's (MCDYESS & KT ), a sf that can score on the block or the 3 pt shot and a pg that can penetrate & play good defense ( WILLIAMS ), and a decent bench and rookies that have promise & potential and all he can get us is another lottery pic !!! The result ??? We need a coach !!!
What does DICK CHANEY & DON CHANEY have in common ?? They both accidentally fell into a job they don't deserve & really suck at doing it !!!! Both need to be fired !!!

Van Gundy over Don Chaney is a no brainer! There can be no debate about it!

Without even breaking out the stat sheet, all you have to do is think about the first thing that comes to mind when hearing or seeing the coaches' names:

Van Gundy: winning, hard defense, sub-par offense, gritty, hard practices, not accepting losing, still analyzing problems even in a win, holding players accountable for miuscues.

Chaney: losing, no offense or defense, more losing, softer, lackadasical practices that take place every few days, not fazed by losing, not winning enough to really analyze problems in wins, making excuses for everything.

I see no reason why Chaney isn't getting a $405 check from the Department of Labor right now. It's just BAD management.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I want to hear from you as well when his team has hopes of making the playoffs in the WEST! and we cannot contend for 8th in the east!

Any coach's schemes get exposed against DUNCAN! He is the best player in the league and almost impossible to guard but he went only 2-10 tonite! Chaney lost to Seattle, Golden State and Portland when we have huge leads and got embarrased by the Jazz! He is a bad coach!

Vangundy Coaches for the rockets now.

Regardless of his departure from this team, He gave 110% effort and had success here. He made the finals!

A 5'9 man that will attach himself to Alonzo in the heat of battle is ok in my book.

I will always appreciate the work ethic of Van Gundy and his intensity. I am glad he got to take time off and enjoy his stature as a star in his profession. To rise from a small time player to coaching in the NBA takes guts, ambition, and lots of preparation.

Luck: When opportunity and preparation collide! He did well with his opportunity!

Neydal VANDUNCE ISN'T NEAR 5'9, that guy is about 5'6 soaking wet with bags under his eyes with no hair on his head. He better go become a client of the hair transplant place because Francis and Mobley's gonna kill him.

Anybody take notice that Vandummy team is getting blown out lately with Ming only avg about 10 pts a game. 3 GAME LOSING STREAK AND MINNY BLEW THEM OUT LAST NITE BY 19. I heard Francis on talk show the other day, he said he and VD are on the same page but It is so hard to try and walk the ball up and dump to Yao Ming all the time. Fact is Houston with all that fire power(MOBLEY MING,FRANCIS,MAURICE?) and high draft picks are only avg 76 points a game. LOL

How did Spree, the player you like to bash so much, do last night in that win?

Espn shows that Houston is averaging 86 not 76 points a game. VG was and is a good coach. I don't like to knock coaches - I'm sure the worst of them does a better job then I could - but I believe VG would get a lot more out of this team the Chaney. Like him or not he was consistent and the team knew what he wanted and more times then not they gave it to him.

Thanks for clarifying that, OLDFAN. Playa often mis-reprensents the truth in order to support the history he makes up. Houston is at 86.1 ppg , NY is at 86.3. Supposedly NY's motion offense is much better than the HOuston offense. The problem is NY gives up 91.4 for -5.1 ppg diffferential. Houston gives up 84.5 for a +1.6ppg differnetial. Houston is still 13-10 despite a 3 game losing streak. NY is 9-17 despite winning 2 of their last 3!

Now I do think HOuSTON should be scoring more than 8 points a game, but they do average almost 3 attempts less per game than any other team. That I am sure affects them.

Gundy did win in NY with a veteran roster but with the rockets he is in for a rude awakening. AP: Rockets players, not satisfied with 3 1/2 hours in practice on Monday, met again Monday night in a players-only meeting at the team hotel. Players said they generally talked about the same topics covered in that day's tape session in what amounted to a team pep talk. Francis said most players said the same thing, but several players said that teammates did express their frustration.

Yao Ming, asked about the meeting said, "I don't speak English." ROFL

There's nothing that I can say," said Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy, appearing more disgusted than after any game or practice this season. "I don't think there is any reason to comment on anything. We were noncompetitive after the first five or six minutes. I'm not saying every player, but as a group. We didn't compete as hard as you need to compete in the NBA. We need to get the effort back to a semblance of a winning spirit. We're not playing hard enough to win."
Same thibngs he said while in NY. Just wait and see what he does with the Rockets young guys. Nothing!

Ok so veterans like his style more? YOu mean guys with more experience accept his teachings because they know it works?

Please explain because I dont understand.

If you are saying JVG does not realate to young players, remember he gave WArd his first significant minutes. Houston was 24 when he came to NY. Camby about the same. They all played well for JVG. He has left, what young player has done well in NY.

It is not about old vs young. It is about winning and making the right moves to put yourself in position to win. The rockets are not learning it yet. They will. Please dont forget their starting PF went crazy on them and is out this year! That does make a difference you know. In any case, I expect the Rockets to be there at the end and I will judge them then. JVG has only had 23 games so far to make his mark. Chaney has had 170+!

JVG has not coached any other franchise before, he has no clue on what it will be like coaching in the west. He won in NY ,DID FAIRLY WELL,but with the rockets his approach with young guys won't work. At least he's getting paid for his future failure's. LOL

MY BAD, I SAW THE REPORTS ON LAST 3 AZZ KICKINGS ,They avg 76.1 points per game and that is when they play vandummy ball.
