Sessions sucks. I don't know why Donnie Walsh signed him when we could have had Iverson.

AI - seen way better days, and a guy that doesn't pass isn't a fit for a ball movement offense

Thats the exact argument alot of dudes are gonna have when/if the Knicks do sign and retain Sessions.

Last year my argument was - why bother with Duhon when we are rebuilding - we already have Nate just let him run the point on a season already deemed a throwaway.

I will use the same exact argument this year - why sign Sessions when we are rebuilding - we already had Duhon, Nate, and now Douglas to run the point on a season already deemed a throwaway.

And much like Duhon I will say about Sessions: The grass is greener and he is overrated and I don't see the need for such a pointless move.

...then just like Duhon maybe he comes in and surprises me before after some time showing exactly why I didn't like him in the first place.

Needless signing, Walsh is just spinning his wheels for no reason at all. Just put the car in park and wait until next year and just let the guys we have play out the season. They're capable of this and we have enough depth to do it.

With the Vegas thread, the Teddy Bear thread and now the Fake Welcome Sessions thread, how do you dare to suggest Eny is bored?

Cosmic, we still don't have Nate so you can't include him as a PG. And there is a reason why they are looking for a PG when Duhon is on his last year and Douglas is a rookie that shouldn't be used a lot in the beginning. And even if Nate re-signed, the team already knows they can't trust him as the distributor of the offense.

You're kind of missing the point of these two threads, aren't ya.

I'll let you figure out the gist of them.

Meanwhile, at any time we choose, we can retain Nate, so, yes I include him in the plans before I include some random FA we're rumored to be talking to. Nate's rights belong to us. Nate is still a New York Knick.

And I'll take Nate on his QO or a 1 year deal over anyone discussed in these free agent PG discussions thus far.

You can take Nate all you want, but until he signs a contract, he isn't officially a Knick, especially if the team doesn't seem fond to the idea of keeping him. You can also be happy to take him instead of any other FA PG, but since you don't coach the team and the one who does sees the importance of having a real pass first PG around, well, we may have a new one soon.

Sessions is a no brainer move--there is a true lack of PG's out there on the horizon. To me Sessions is going to be better than many of the guys getting max contracts after the top 3-4 on the list through the contract totality. I really don't want to see a little bit of money drag this deal into the mud and end it. I think that when a deal is supposed to be done and DOES NOT get done is REAL trouble. This team is very indecisive. They couldve moved Nate with Jefferies and at the last second nixed the deal--they just cant things done since that move with Randolph They have become radically conservative where the pendulum has turned all the way around from IT.

There is NO guarantee we are going to get ANY tier one players in 2010--there is NO 2010 plan--there is $ flexibility which gives us a chance. Signing Sessions to an MLE or a 5 year 25mm contract--whatever it is makes a ton of sense. If they are between 5 years 25mm and the full MLE--just go halfway and get the deal done.

Im going to give David Lee 7mm not 8mm Im going to trade Nate and Jefferies no i am not Im going to raise hll in the papers that Sessions deal is done--no it isnt. I couldve had Ricky Rubio for Wilson Chandler--no cahones to try. Very indecisive conservative approach right now. Doesnt sound like they could sell a potential FA anyway. It will be funny when Lebron goes to Miami and talks with wade and Pat Riley and we counter with glenn grunwald and Darko.

Brevin Knight is available. He's pass first.

And, Yes, I'd take one more year of Nate and let him fly the coop than look to lock up Sessions to the full MLE or go after garbage like JWill or Iverson.

And, yes, he still is officially a Knick, because we fully retain his rights. Until we release him or S&T him he is our property. Same with David Lee. They are RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS. Note, the Restricted. We can match anything we want and do whatever we choose with them and until they are signed elsewhere with our blessings or traded elsewhere they are ours. So, no, you don't exclude them from the conversation.

Yo session is comin' off a 12/7.5 year and a limited rookie campaign where he avg. 8 assists per game! He is effectively a second year player with HUGE upside, and we will claim him early, mold him to our liking.
WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

Oh Briggs wants him? We probably won't get him then.

We've never been able to mold a player to our liking. Players are who they are. You're not turning a non-defender into a defender. A non-shooter into a shooter. A chucker into a distributor. You're just not.

The knocks on Sessions is that he's a backup caliber PG, he has no outside shot to speak of, and has poor defense. Not to mention the ONLY suitor is the Knicks. Even the Bucks aren't concerned with losing him.

Aren't those red flags? They are to me. We want a starting caliber PG for the future. Is Sessions that? Nothing to show that so far. Is he a bad player? No. Is he a solid starting PG for a team that wants to contend? Probably not.

So why rush to throw money and years at such a player?

Oh and, predictably, Alan "ITS IMMINENT" Hahn wrote on his morning blog that the Sessions talk has fizzled, he wants the full MLE, Knicks don't want to give him that, and an "unnamed" exec said "That's how you wind up with Jared Jeffries."

Knight! Definitely an improvement at PG than out of control Nate!

You are free to see the situation as you wish, as anyone else. But Lee and Nate are in limbo, they nor us know where they will play. We can only guess. But either way, Nate isn't a PG, so the search for one will continue.
