Are you serious???

You know what??? If Rubio and Gallo and Tony Parker, etc can do it than our american boys need to do it too if they can...Kid is getting pimped by NCAA rules anyway so he might as well get some money to help pay for his sidekick bills.

As a 16 year old kid I dunno what I was thinking about...probably smokin weed and trying to get a dry hump in a party

For some, it might work. But for others, leaving home and going to play professional basketball before the finish high school might not be a good idea.

You give our high schools too much credit-- as if anything productive is undertaken in our classrooms.

This kid will get a better education just playing over there and not going to school then he would going to school here to sit in class and text his friends.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I'm not concerned about that. That is exactly what a young person needs. It's a character builder. He will be better off for it in the long run.

Comfort breeds nothing good.

I think Stern needs to reconsider letting guys play out of high school. This is just the beginning. At least in the past guys went to prep school.

Hell, let's take this to the max- why not go Spartan on all newly born babies. Put them in the backyard overnight the day they are born. If they survive, great, it's a character builder. If they die, they didn't deserve to live- so be it.

I think this is great. I don't think H.S. in it's current form is such a great thing, he's not missing out on much "educationally" speaking. What most know as education is indoctrination, memorization, etc. He will make more money in one year in Europe than he will working a regular job in probably 20 years in America, not to mention get out of a mold of being just an "American". Travel really makes one grow in ways you can't understand outside of "direct experience". Perhaps for these young guys they can set up some money on the side for further "education", whatever they deem that to be.

What I'd like to see next is avoidance of the draft and going to a team that they want to.

yo real gm via draftexpress says the kid is gonna get a 3 year deal 150k per year with a 400k buy out after year 2....ballin!!! Better than working summer youth for minimum wage...believe that! I dunno anything about his family or his surroundings...but best believe this kids family at home isn't bringing in 150k per year...hopefully they don't quit their day jobs and stack chips....damn man the opportunities for kids today are endless...

To be honest, if you are going to be at a rather big team in europe, you can expect to get schooled here. Most teams, at least at football, have there own boarding schools (?). Teams have teachers and giving there young players not only an balling education, but rather an degree in some kind as well.
No disrespect, but I think even from an normal educational point of view, there is nothing better for a young american than to get over to europe an get there education there. And getting paid for playing ball at the same time makes the deal even sweater, i guess.

Going in at 16 the team might take more of an interest in developing you than taking an 18 year old who's only going to play a year.

What Jennings did was a bold move. This might be pretty savvy.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)
