Bucks acquire Walter Sharpe, Sonny Weems and cash considerations for Malik Allen

July 31, 2009 | 1:46pm

The Milwaukee Bucks have acquired forward Walter Sharpe, guard/forward Sonny Weems and cash considerations from the Denver Nuggets for forward Malik Allen, General Manager John Hammond announced today.

Sharpe (6-9, 245) was originally drafted by Seattle (Oklahoma City Thunder) in the second round of the 2008 NBA Draft (32nd overall) and traded to Detroit along with Trent Plaisted (46th overall) for the draft rights to D.J. White (29th overall). The 23-year-old appeared in eight games for the Pistons last season and averaged 1.0 point in 2.4 minutes per game. He also played in four games for the Ft. Wayne Mad Ants of the D-League and tallied 10.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Sharpe was traded to Denver with Arron Afflalo and cash considerations from Detroit for a future second round draft choice on July 13, 2009.

Weems (6-6, 203) appeared in 12 games for the Nuggets as a rookie and averaged 1.6 points in 4.6 minutes per game. He also saw action in 21 contests for the Colorado 14ers of the D-League where he posted 20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. Weems was the 39th overall pick by Chicago in the 2008 NBA Draft and traded to Denver for a second round pick in the most recent 2009 Draft.

An eight-year NBA veteran, Allen (6-10, 255) played in 49 games (3 starts) for Milwaukee last season and averaged 3.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. In 409 career NBA games, Allen has averages of 5.4 points and 3.0 rebounds while shooting 44.3 percent from the field and 77.4 percent from the free throw line.

this means knicks will have to go well over $3M to keep bucks from matching on Sessions.

Very Quietly the Bucks have put on a general manager clinic this off-season....

Donnie walsh has done a great job as well....

Knicks/Bucks trade is a done deal...can't wait to see what happens.

Things are about to free up it would seem.

The Knicks look to be finally getting to the offseason stage.

This is good news, not just for you guys wanting Sessions or JWill or Iverson (I've said enough about how I don't), but more for Lee and Nate.

They're about to become sought after.

Initially I thought that Donnie would waste no time this offseason in shoring things up but it went the other way. I understand why... we don't have assets, and our available players weren't on the top of anyone's lists, and the players we could get had to sit and wait while better players who we could not get found homes.

Things are going to free up next week.

hmm, i don't think a trade is a done deal at all. i think now it's a matter of whether donnie offers enough of a chunk of the MLE to deter Milwaukee from matching. and that will probably mean Milwaukee will try like heck to get shed a salary like Kurt Thomas for a second round pick and DPE or something. problem is: once NYK signs Sessions to an offer sheet, Milwaukee can s&t Sessions to any team in the league BUT NYK.

What's the over under on the amount of days before Bowen is a Spur again?
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

What about offering Bowen a 1 year deal, teaching the youngsters a thing or two about defense?

and teaching them how to be a Class A Jerk-Face, to boot. Plus I don't think MDA would want Bowen on his team after Bruce's dirty tactics kept the Suns out of the Finals.
