I have applied to almost every job on craiglist. Majority of them are scams. I recently graduated and I am hoping to land a PR gig, but with the economy being the way it is I would settle for something else. Monster.com sucks and obviously craiglist is unreliable. What website is the best to post a resume on ?

get it out on a bunch. Monster, Hotjobs, CareerBuilder. The best sites are niche sites. For example if you are an HR professional you could post on Shrm(Society for Human Resource Professionals) and then a local affiliate like NEHRA(New England version). Also, the key is to be proactive. Too many candidates out there to sit back and wait for people to call you. You have to get on company websites and apply. Network with as many people as possible. Let anybody and everybody you know in on the fact that you are looking for a job. Hook up with Recruiters etc. Finding a job is a full-time job in itself.

Can't give you any specifics, but a fellow I heard on NPR the other day say that some of the more general sites like Monster, are not so great, but he also said many have had success with Craig's List, so...

The show I listened to is the first link. The second is the site the show guest operates.

I'm glad that I am 3 years from early retirement as a NYC employee. Good luck trying to find what you are looking for.

the only job site I've had success with is Craigslist. But you have to be careful which ads you respond to. Look for ads that reference a website, check the website to make sure it's a legit business, or look to see if there's a listed email that isn't prjobs@hotmail.com

Right. And you shouldn't have to remove your clothing to do the job.

And keep your eyes peeled for jobs that seem too good to be true. I made a thread awhile back about some marketing scam that I could have fallen for. They said you'd be working with the Knicks and Yankees and Rangers ect...

Turned out to be a scam and one crappy day with no pay. You got to watch out for stuff like that.

There is a guy on the Knicks forum on realgm who is looking for people to work for him. He has a description of the job and an email address. I don't know him because I don't go there that often but I noticed he has over 5000 posts and no one was calling him out or saying it was a scam. I believe the position was either working as a recruiter or telemarketer. It might be worth checking out.
