What's going on? Nobody wants to play for the knicks?
Every player we have eyes on has gone and signed with another team.
Even though, these players weren't going to make a big difference for the team.
But come on these are the NEW YORK KNICKS we are talking about.
I want Carlos Boozer here at the Power Forward spot
and go after M.Daniels who used to play for the pacers.
At least sign him for two years cheap?

NY is not a place anymore for players who think they deserve nicely paid rest.
MikeD players are running and executing or sitting on the bench.
Only players who want to make names for themselves or give it all to win it all will come here.
Is this actually all we want to see?

Tim Thomas is now reportedly going to sign with Dallas. We can't even sign TT.

For veterans, I think they want to play with a winner UNLESS we overpay them by offering a huge contract....which Donnie has made clear that we aren't doing that anymore. They won't come to a team that is rebuilding. So be it.

Tinsley may want to come here.....probably no one else wants him. And this is our fate until we can turn things around or get past 2010.

this summer's knicks free agent experience reminds me of an adage from a pretty famous lady.....

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Funny!

Its a true quote! I used it a few years ago describing Isiahs policy to get players!

This OP is lame but I think what we are seeing is Walsh gives the media acess and let them write about rumors all they want. Its just talk.

Regarding Kidd, nash, or Hill we really did not offer them much money or length of contract. I don't mind the old man fishing for a bargain in the leadership catagory.

The man has a plan and he is not going off it.

If anyting he is making available opportunities for trade potential and FA signings.

Its called "be cool".

The man is not going to "Starphuch".

Fortunately, we fired Isiah a long time ago.

We would have acquired Hill, Kidd, Tinsley, Gordon, and others through S&Ts dumping our 1st rounder through 2020.

Good post.

We can't blame ourselves for feeling a bit impatient, given the insanity at the Garden the past seven or eight years. But I couldn't agree more with your point: Let DW execute his plan, even if it is an agonizingly slow process. Jumping in with both feet was IT's modo, and has never been effective. Our time will come, if not after summer 2010 then later. But it will come. Red Sox fans had to wait 86 years.

Also, I think NYC still has allure to professional athletes, it's just not the decisive factor in their decision-making. I think LBJ or Wade would have a different feeling about playing here in their career/age bracket than the old-timers DW tried to fish out of the swamp for a dose of leadership. Reviving a moribund franchise, rejuvenating hoops in the mecca, pitching goods to the largest market on earth, and basking in the intense light of NY sports will ALWAYS appeal to star athletes, ceterus parabus.

Workman is an NBA referee now. He is the third ex-NBA player to become an NBA referee, the first two being Bernie Fryer and Leon Wood.

Vern Fleming holds the record for playing the most professional basketball games without picking up a technical foul.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

i think this is a good stance by walsh - dont panic and see what falls to you. normally i'd want a gm to be more active, but in this case w the economy the way it is, teams dumping and being VERY frugal for the most part trying to clear-up some financial space to be under cap, it actually helps the knicks cause IMHO. the knicks shouldnt be out there looking to spend mighty dollars on players this year. lets see what direction the team goes in terms of defining personnel for the upcoming season, then getting that personnel to build some chemistry playing together this year then you can build around them next year w some studs (lebron or any other top tier player) once a roster is semi-defined and dantoni has had a year under his belt not coaching all of isaih's losers...dont forget that walsh/dantoni are still in evaluation mode for all the players currently on roster.

the dilemna is that ny'ers in geneeral are not patient people, and have been EXTREMELY vocal in the last 10 yrs wanting a turnaround and they keep getting lemons. its hard to ask them to be patient AGAIN.
