Yes, it's wrestling - but lately WWE has been running a "guest host" thing where the host can book matches and whatever have you.

Tonight, it's Shaq.

It's actually on right now (USA Network) so give it a look if you're interested at all.

Ha, Shaq was great..."Christina". Jericho was good, too. Good to see him still doing his thing because he was one of my favorites growing up.

But damn, the show overall sucked. Wack comedy and I hate Triple H.

WWE is incredibly lame now. Wrestling has been dead for years.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Ever since WWF became WWE i was like... WTH?

But because of this thread i actually turned on USA last nite and watched.

It was fun seeing Shaq go up against the big show.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

It's Vince McMahon's own fault why WWF is WWE now.

And if you want a half decent wrestling show, watch WWE Smackdown on Fridays. Much better wrestlers over there.

Wrestling ain't going back to be what it was 8-10 years ago until WWE gets real competition and/or they create another crossover megastar (sorry, John Cena, you ain't it).

WWE seems to have a very limited view of who is marketable and who they should get behind.

I mean, I stopped watching consistently a while ago...I turn on last night and it seems like the same guys are still on top. Orton, Cena, HHH, ext. Why is Lawler still there? Especially Micheal Cole?

And where is the diversity in races and styles? Thats one thing I loved about WCW, they had a great cruiserweight division with all kinds of luchadores and a fun, athletic style. But in the WWE, VInce's view on wrestlers he likes is so narrow and closeminded. Kingston was cool, but he was treated like an afterthought. Same with Evan Borne.

And whoever is writing these shows...Goddamn, how weak. Say what you want about Vince Russo, but back in the day he had his pulse on the mainstream and what was cool. WWE is the old guy at the bar trying to tell 15 year old jokes and pick up lines to young hotties.

WWE is definitely flabby and sick. Ol Fubu wearing, Sum 41 bumpin, behind the times WWE. They need a revolution. A complete overhaul.

Yup. Wrestling took it's downfall as soon as the Rock got into acting and they couldn't find a personality to match his. He wasn't the greatest wrestler, but he was a hell of a speaker, spokesman, icon, and he could play any role. It's the same with Steve Austin. Both of them were probably almost as big as Hogan and Warrior. Just different generations.

I haven't watched consistently in years. However, there were points when I'd turn it on just to get a good kick out of it b/c it might have sucked, but I could still find humor in it. I don't even do that anymore. I think I stopped being a fan after Wrestlemania XX. I was there, but then I kinda realized it was somewhat dissapointing.

Pretty sad. I don't think they can recover either.

Yeah, never say never because wrestling's popularity always seems to ebb and flow but it will be harder for a next time because MMA has filled a significant part of the 12-40 aged, adrenaline seeking, male vacuum.

Boxing never really did that, because it was always considered an old mans sport.

WWE definitely missed the Rock and Stone Cold, but people never thought there would be a wrestler that would match and eclipse Hogan's popularity --- let alone two. Just like fans thought there would be another wrestler as big as Bruno.
