Depth Chart
PG: Duhon, Nate, Douglas
SG: Hughes, Joe Crawford, Wafer?
SF: Chandler, Jeffries, Gallinari
PF: Lee?, Harrington,Hill
C: Curry, Darko, Saer Sene?

does that team win more than 32 games?

The 2009-10 season seems like it will be based on chemistry and player development. We still are lacking a finisher that every good team has. We still are lacking good defenders. But with all that said, we were the 8th seed at 22-25 before the unforgetable "Dream Week" destroyed our team's confidence and eventually our playoff hopes.

Are the new pieces (Douglas, Darko and Hill) enough to beat the upper echelon teams? Can Gallinari prove he was worthy of the #6 pick? Can Chandler, Nate, & Harrington play a intelligent team oriented game? Can Curry be the player he was in 06-07? Everyone on the Knicks has a facet of their game that needs to be drastically improved. If that happens then we can win more than 32 games. If not, John Wall will be coached by Jerry Sloan.

Can we please ban any talk of next years draft unless we trade for picks. It's too depressing.
Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

I mean...assuming Lee and Nate are brought back and we dont sign Sessions...I think we will be about the same. How many wins is Darko going to bring us?

Rookies aren't going to do much and quite honestly Jordan Hill scares the hell out of me.

Gallo could obviously be a huge X-factor, but Im not holding my breath.

Yes absolutely. I guarantee about a 10 win improvement over last year. No bs. Basically the same team is returning with a full TC ahead. Should improve that much, playoffs or not.

i personally don’t give a **** about our record this year. i care about clearing 2010 cap space, about the development of hill, andrew toney douglas, gallo b free and the mayor and about the old man not ****ing up our cap space by adding guys that shouldn’t be added until we score our fa's.

No, we won't be any better than last year, because we will continue to trade, end up shorthanded as a result, and face players who are going to ultimately break down.

Should we panic? Of course not. When you're planning for the future (2010 and beyond) Why should you expect to be good in the present?\

My worry...and I like to think of myself as an optimist..is that the mix of young guys you want to develop and guys playing for a contract might not mix well.
How do you showcase JJ and EC ....if possible...while getting time for others?
How do Nate, Lee (assuming they are back) get stats...while Harrington, Hughes, and Duhon do too?
and what about the guys we want playing...Gallo and Chandler...
What about the rookies?

Hard to get good chemistry if they all know they are going to be elsewhere the next year...
D'antoni doesn't like a big rotation...how does that work out...

Lots of questions...

Who cares? If they get a high pick, it is what it is. It's the last remaining FU from Isiah to the Knicks. We can't do anything about it.

Some would trade all of our 50M expirings for anyone they can just to try to win 42 games and kick Utah out of the draft lotto.

Competition and respect is what I'm hoping for....

Harrington vs a healthy Gallo in practice.....a hungry Hughes vs a wilson chandler threatening to break out....Darko vs Curry both entering a now or never year....maybe a David vs Jordan or Nate vs Sessions if these guys are signed. Toney Douglas will bring it too.....

If these guys can compete and buy into D'antoni's system and stay close as a team, I think the Knicks will be back....this all remains to be seen....but the enviroment and ego's in the locker have changed....

This is what I'm hoping for and can't wait to see if it can be accomplished.

Depth Chart
PG: Duhon, Nate, Douglas
SG: Hughes, Joe Crawford, Wafer?
SF: Chandler, Jeffries, Gallinari
PF: Lee?, Harrington,Hill
C: Curry, Darko, Saer Sene?

If Joe Crawford ever touches the floor we're going to be in trouble. Curry starting?

PG:Duhon/Douglas
SG: Chandler/Nate/Hughes
SF: Harrington/Hughes
PF: Gallo/Hill
C: Lee/Darko/Hill

Even this is a ten man rotation. Hill and Hughes might not play much.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

If Gallo starts it would be at SF not power. Not this early in his career.

If Lee returns? And Darko has any ability at all? I think you're looking at this:

Darko
Lee
Harrington
Hughes
Duhon

Why? You're not benching able veterans so that Chandler can start out of position at the 2 and Gallo out of position at the 4. It's just not happening. You're not benching Harrington and Hughes. I'm sure we'll try it at times when Mike feels he wants to mix things up and see what happens but you're not running with that from the start.

Your primary backups are

Curry
Gallo
Chandler
Nate
Douglas

.

Someone's not playing and I'd say it's Hill/Curry/Douglas who will see spot duty.

I think this team is MUCH better.

I think there are a core of players with expiring contracts that really want to be here long term. Harrington, Nate and Lee all want to be Knicks and I think they will be playing for jobs. MDA has the juice card so those guys should be on the same page.

I expect Chandler to be a year better, more mature and more consistant.

I expect Gallinari to be a factor and a rotation player.

While I expect the Knicks to look and move JJ/Curry at the first possible opportunity I dont expect it to impact our team's chemistry like last year's trades did.

Rotation?

I think the x-factor is Douglas. He's a hell of a defender and his only focus in SL was to play PG. His assist to TO ration was like 8:1. I think if he has a very good camp or preseason you might see Duhon shipped out with JJ in our first trade. I dont think we see much of Jordan Hill this year unless some other guys get hurt.

I think our starting rotation is:
Duhon/Hughes/Chandler/Lee/Curry with Harrington, Gallo and Nate off the bench. We will see about Douglas.

I think this team is less talented but will be harder working. Plus, there's a lot of guys playing for contract (on this team or another). I think they're good for 35 or 36 wins. Yay.

^^ Cosmic, Chandler is ready to start and Walsh/MDA have made no bones about the fact that Chandler and Gallo are the main cogs and future of this team. Chandler is starting at the 3. If Lee is back (I'm assuming he will be in some capacity) then he starts also. The question is does Lee play center like he did most of last year with Harrington starting or does he play PF with Curry at center?

I'm inclined to start Curry and try and get him going early. Harrington has shown he can by a 20/7 guy in 30 minutes off the bench playing various roles and positions through the game.

MDA once won 58 games playing Nash with a bunch of guards and SFs. I think this group plays close to .500 ball in year 2

Gallo is not guarding a small forward, I can tell you that much. He's too slow getting back, and that creates another problem with Curry. I don't think you could ever put Curry and Gallo on the floor at the same time or else you'd have 5 on 3 breaks all the time.

54 games. and there is really no correlation between the team he had in Phoenix vs the team here. NY doesn't have the athletes let alone the skill level.
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!
