NEW YORK — ESPN has banned staffers from the New York Post from appearing on any of its programming after the newspaper ran photos from the video showing sideline reporter Erin Andrews nude in a hotel room.

"While we understand the Post's decision to cover this as a news story, their running photos obtained in such a fashion went well beyond the boundaries of common decency in the interest of sensationalism," ESPN senior vice president of communications Chris LaPlaca said in a statement Wednesday night.

ESPN regularly uses newspaper reporters as guests for analysis and insight on its shows.

Post spokesman Howard Rubenstein did not immediately return a call from The Associated Press.

The damn people should follow ESPN...I been boycotting that paper for years. If you notice all the Knicks articles printed are garbage too...needless jabs and soap opera bullshyte. Disgusting paper

What would you expect from Rupert Murdoch? Certainly not "journalism". It's pulp fiction.

And any paper that would run the shyte Marc Berman writes should be used for nothing more than igniting bonfires.

EnySpree - hopefully, women, men and other media outlets who have an ounce of compassion for what Erin Andrews has been subjected to, will follow the ESPN example as quickly as possible.

Well, thankfully the Post does draw the line at printing pictures of ESPN analysts having sex with farm animals. They do have some standards you know.

Good job by ESPN. I hope the N Y Post gets sued by Andrews' lawyers.

Hopefully as a result, the POST releases a more crystal-clear video

I think that's terrible to invade someone's privacy for financial gain.....so, is someone gonna post the pictures?

Marc (who cares) Berman was the only beat writer to actual get the draft pick right, well befoer any way.

Alan and isola aren't the most reliable either..and its no secrete that ESPN gets most of its info from beat writers. They never take blame for any story they report.

Sorry, I find this to be a joke that media outlets will jump on their soap boxes and claim to be true journalists when the truth is that their moral standards barely rise above those of the Post and fail to meet any true standard of professional journalism of the past. And btw, my daughter is an unbelievable athlete and any publicity has been for her accomplishments in sport.

Rookie - no, it is simply a case of ONE media outlet circling the wagons for its employee.

The same way you would protect your daughter if someone caught her in the shower after a game and posted her nude photo online.

ESPN is a joke to me though.

On the one hand, they want to act all high and mighty and protect Andrews "best interests" yet ESPN has YET to even utter a single word about the Sexual Harrasment case that is being brought against Ben Roethlisberger. Why isn't ESPN reporting it when every other major news outlet is? ESPN put some stupid statement out saying they don't report "allegations" which is total BS and you can go down the list of all the allegations that they've jumped on in the past month alone, especially high profile ones in recent time, such as Pacman Jones, Alex Rodriguez, etc etc.

ESPN is protecting Big Ben because they have some deal for him to have a program on ESPN in the near future and thats why they are declining to report this. ESPN only does whats good for ESPN and right now and in the past 2 years Erin Andrews has been good for ESPN.

I give ESPN absolutely ZERO credit.

In light of this thread topic, I find the joking to be a tad on the wrong side of decency.
