The Blazers have initiated free agent discussions with Andre Miller, according to sources. A deal is not imminent, but there has been progress made toward resolving Miller's status, according to a source with knowledge of the discussions.

Portland was previously interested in Hedo Turkoglu and then signed Paul Millsap to an offer sheet that was matched by Utah.

But with $7.7 million in cap room and a dwindling number of free agents available, Portland has targeted Miller.

According to a source, the Blazers do not have any interest in Lakers free agent forward Lamar Odom, whose negotiations with Los Angeles on a new contract have stalled.

If Portland signs Miller, Lee should be about ready to sign either a reasonable contract (about $7mil per backloaded) or the QO for next season. He says he wants to play for the Knicks and live in the City. Let's see if he wants it more than his agent wants the 10% split at $10mil. Lee is too valuable to play in Greece, so I bet he signs. MLE will hopefully be used on Sessions.

Best bets for NYK re: Lee (in order):

1. He signs QO (maintains our flexibility next summer)
2. He signs a reasonable 3 or 4 year deal (player option for final year)
3. He is packaged with one of our undesireable contracts in a S&T for something expiring or an upgrade (tall 2 spot would be nice)
4. We trade him for an unprotected 1st rounder next year (with a marginal team - Lee would not like this bet)

I like him, but it's just got to fit the teams direction salary-wise.

I'm pretty sure no one is going to offer Lee more than the MLE this off-season. It's just a matter of him and his agent swallowing their pride.

True, but that's a lot of swallowing.

That's life! Signing with us for 1 to 2 mil per year above the MLE would be less pride to swallow and still a reasonable deal for us.

Thank you, Rick Brunson.
