Houston had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee June 10 and missed most of the preseason. He said after last night's 104-92 loss in Golden State that he could miss the rest of the trip to allow the knee to heal.
Houston said it's been sore all season but "not to this extent." He warmed up with the team beforehand but decided not to play 10 minutes before tip-off because, "I couldn't push off on it."
Martin, it doesn't take a knee surgeon to know that the reason for the operation was to rid H20 of the pain. So far he is still in pain and quite frankly he looks worse now than he did last year before the operation. He is going to have an MRI again and if they have to open him up again than the truth will comeout.
I have had cartlege removed through an athroscopic prcedure and it took 3 weeks for the pain to go away, I rushed and went for a jog only to have it swell up with fluid. Went back to the doctor prescribed physical therapy, he said that the fluid build up was due to the muscles become weak from lack of use. Within a month I went regualarly to a physical therapist for another 3 weeks. I try to run everyday and so far I haven't experienced pain even when I play basketball and Tennis. My knee use to swell up like balloon had it drained numerous time before the sugery to remove the loose cartlege.
so how is this Norman's fault? The person who is most responsible for a player's return schedule is the athlete. It's also the athlete's responsibility to get a second and third doctor's opinion and to pick the doc who does the surgery.
also, Houston is no young stud anymore... something like 31, right? It takes more time than he has ever had to deal with. Maybe he rushed the rehab, and maybe he did it against trainers and doctors orders. Or maybe he felt the pressure of his coaches and owners and his own contract.
Point is, we just don't know.
