The only options Ricky Rubio is currently considering are playing in Minnesota or returning to DKV Joventut, sources said on Tuesday.

If Rubio had been a top-three pick, he could have more easily afforded to pay Joventut to release him, a source said. But the difference in salary between third and fifth in the draft is roughly $600,000 a year. Joventut reportedly is asking for no less than $4 million for his release.

In any case, Rubio apparently has no objections to playing in Minnesota.

"This isn't about Minnesota," a source said. "It's about the buyout."

I really hope this kid plays for the NYK someday soon. Looks pretty unlikely that TW will trade him.

Mommy, say it ain't so...

Rubio Coming To Accept Minnesota?

Jul 15, 2009 10:12 PM EST

Ricky Rubio seems to have accepted that if he plays in the NBA, it will be in Minnesota as a member of the Timberwolves.

The main obstacle to the Spanish point guard making his way to the U.S. is the large buyout attached to his current contract.

If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

There's about 500 other players in the league. Why is the #1 target Rubio?

Believe me, rubio doesn't want to play in minny. He is just realizing it is either minny or europe at this point.. I see a little backpedaling on his behalf.. but that is Ok... he just needs to do his time in minny and leave after 3 years hoping minny doesn't pick up his option..

Would be a great thing to have him, and no, Im not ready right now to let it go!

I would still say, that if Rubio plays in the NBA this year, it will be NY! Evidence? Get outta here! More of stubbornness on my part :D

The topic is titled "MY #1 target". It's a matter of preference. I think the boy gots game, big time. He is perfect for MDA's system. ANd I like to see his style of ball handling and passing. Not saying he is the only option, far from it. I just like the kid.

I can wait 4 years for him to be legal drinking age in the City and done with his stupid contract in MN. The TW won't win shyte while he plays for them, and we will get him as a seasoned 22yo to a max 6 year deal.

I'll take CP3OH! when his contract expires and he becomes sick of the hornets and their stingy ways.

Why don't we just wait 20 years and maybe we might get it right. Ive been waiting for over 35 years so what the hell is another 20 years.

I felt about the same way knowing that Rubio will not be a Knick any time soon if ever.

However, there is a chance that perhaps Flynn becomes a more expendable asset if Rubio comes over. There is no way that both of them can play enough minutes at the point to be happy and the idea of playing them both at the same time just seems silly

Not sure what the Knicks have to offer, but its something that should be asked about
