Knickerblogger had an interesting writeup on him (and a nice article overall about the summer league roster)-

http://www.knickerblogger.net/?p=2122

Another candidate is Blake Ahearn, a castaway from the Heat & Spurs. Like Almond, Ahearn dominated the NBDL, scoring 21.9 pts/36 on a sizzling 64.6% TS%. He connected on 43.4% of his three pointers, and was about as perfect as you get (95.5%) from the charity stripe. Unlike Almond, Ahearn has one peripheral stats that is above average, his 4.6 ast/36. At 6-2, Ahearn is more suited for point guard at the NBA level.

....

I think there’s the possibility that the Knicks could find a decent player here. I don’t think there are any NBA starters here, but certainly a few guys could contribute as reserves. After reviewing their numbers, Blake Ahearn is at the top of my list. I have a soft spot in my heart for snipers, and the Knicks really need more depth at point guard. I like Almond, but he scares me at the same time. His number suggest a typical me-first-shooter that’s indifferent to the other aspects of the game.

His shooting/scoring is pretty impressive, and if he can play some point, he seems more equipped to do what Roberson was supposed to do in theory. Hahn has written him up pretty positively on his twitter/blog. This guy might be one to watch. He'd basically be a hedge on Toney Douglas or a guy we could carry as insurance for him.

We also have David Noel on the team- he's a really good defender and it looks like his 3pt shot is coming around.

So, in terms of guaranteed roster spots, we have:

C: Curry, Darko
F: Gallo, Lips, Harrington, Chandler, Hill
G: Duhon, Douglas, Hughes

Then Lee, N8, who are in limbo.

So, that's at least 3 spots for Sene, Almond, Ahearn, Crawford etc. to shoot for.

Add Mobley as we have his contract. So only 2 spots.

yeah Mobley doesn't count

Summer league should be very different this year and interesting to watch
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Mobley takes up a roster spot as of right now. The Knicks have not waived him in the hopes that his insured contract is tradeable.

If the numbers hold true the fatal flaw in Ahearn's game is painfully apparent.

D-League is one thing. The NBA is quite another. Blake Ahearn can't shoot a lick.

Unless he has taken some jump shot truth serum he will not stick around long enough. But I hope he is as good as advertised.

Next.

Or The Answer Man Could Be on Crack

Blake Ahearn of the Dakota Wizards has been named NBA D-League Performer of the Week for games played during the week of Feb. 2, 2009. Ahearn is the first Dakota player to earn the honor this season.

Ahearn led the Wizards to a 3-0 record, averaging 29.7 points and 8.3 assists while shooting .519 (27-of-52) from the field and connecting on 12 three-pointers. On Saturday Ahearn scored 32 points and added 10 assists in a 115-92 win over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

SupremeCommander - what makes Blake Ahearn "the guy you are most interested in" if you don't know much about him?

Did you read the first post? He's a long range sharpshooter than shot over 40% in 3's at his stops. A 65% true shooting is INSANELY efficient for a jumpshooting guard.

VDesai - certainly. But I was irritated with his NBA numbers, which - although from a small sample - were dreadful.

I would respectfully submit that for reasons of good genetics (6'10 245), the fact he was selected 12th in the first round, his Dad is a basketball coach, and the fact that he is only 22 years old, Yaroslav Korolev is a much more intriguing prospect.

"Korolev is a very special player, a big time prospect oozing with potential. He's a guy with a natural talent to play this game, a very high basketball IQ, who plays with intensity and passion and who is a pleasure to watch."

Korolev is a very interesting player, but has not performed at any level yet- I bring up Ahearn b/c of his lights out recent performance and b/c the beat writers have lauded his shooting in practice so far. Given our interest in Roberson last year, Ahearn would seemingly have an inside track on a potential role
