A potential sign-and-trade would bring Chris Duhon to Philadelphia and land free agent Andre Miller in New York.

Now that the Knicks are apparently interested in veteran point guard Andre Miller, a source close to the situation said Kevin Bradbury, the agent for New York point guard Chris Duhon, "is exploring the possibility" of a sign-and-trade involving Duhon and Miller.

The Sixers are apparently asking for more than Duhon, a solid point guard who will make $6 million in the final year of his contract. That could mean the Sixers want a draft pick, too.

The most the Knicks could offer Miller, who made $10 million last season, without a sign-and-trade would be the mid-level exception of $5.85 million. In a sign-and-trade for Duhon, they could give Miller as much as $7.6 million (125 percent of Duhon's salary, plus $100,000). Miller and agent Andy Miller were asking for three years and $30 million.

The Knicks are gearing up for a run at LeBron James and another top-drawer free agent next summer and would probably prefer a one-year contract. They only have $26.5 million in committed contracts for 2010-11.

Miller's contract in a sign-and-trade would have to be for three years, but only the first year must be guaranteed.

Andre Miller is a damn good point guard...he'll be a massive upgrade on Doo Doo...I'm not giving Philly a draft pick though...

Expand the trade...give Andre what he wants...8-10 mill is about right...add David Lee, lmao...it don't matter to me as long as the Knicks get a real point guard/proven leader, decision maker.

He's not flashy...but he has great court vision and control of his team. He knows when guys are open before they do. Duhon simply can't do that...Thats what the Knicks need...On top of this Andre Miller is great in the post...that opens up a whole new element especially in crunch time and when the Knicks go small...

Andre can't guard quicker guards...but seriously...who can? Andre Miller is a big guard...these quicker guards are gonna have trouble with him as well....Andre miller defense is more to it...he has good hands/never letting guys pass him untouched...he's strong...he'll take a charge...he's not afraid to challenge guys at the rim for dunks. He's just a good point guard. 90% of his game is mental. I'd love to have him.

He doesn't shoot threes...doesn't mean he can't cuz I remember him knocling some down on the Knicks...his game is distributing and he does that well. aaaaaaaand he wont bitch out 1/3rd through the season cuz he is soooooo tired!

He doesn't fit the system. Philly GM is low balling him why? If he is good why low ball a good player. Andre Miller isn't the answer for the Knicks. He doesn't make anyone better he is a ball dominating type PG. I'm preaching patience don't make a deal for the sake of making a deal because some FAs turned them down. Adding Miller is an act of desperation. He doesn't fit the system as he is a terrible 3 point shooter shot less than 30% last year. He is a mid range player, Duhon actually averaged more assists than him. Andre Miller has been around to much for my liking. Pass on Miller. This is a move of desperation he is not going to get the Knicks into the playoffs.

Anyone not named Kobe, LeBron, Chris Paul or Nash will not get the Knicks into the playoffs. How does he not fit the system he is a great passer and has a great mid range game 47% FG, as long as he is shooting that percentage we don't need him to shoot 3's. There are just no PG's available out there.

so we should just continue to run with Doo Doo....what about Sessions and Raymond Felton?...those two guys are damn good as well.

Truthfully I could take any of the three....they all bring a different look to the Knicks.

Andre is a very goo floor general. He is a good signing as long as he is semi short term. I think 3 years is a good length of time as long as we get his replacement in year 2 and he can groom the next guy for a year.

edit: Duhon is not doing the job in a runnign offense...he's a half court pg...i mentioned Felton...maybe the Knicks do a sign and trade for him...Duhon is a "play the right way" Larry Brown guy...in other words he will do what the coach wants and take it in the butt after the game with no question asked.

to be fair they have AI who's as good of an athlete as it gets in the NBA... Dre Miller is more of a post em up PG in the mold of Mark Jackson IMO... not an ideal fit to lead an uptempo style... he's obviously an upgrade in terms of talent over the Anti-Christ, but i dunno if he's the guy i want leading this team in the longterm... on a 1 year deal, hell yes, but i don't see him taking that.

Eny, good call on RFelton. I like him too. He would be real nice here. He is a PG who can play some two. I would love to see him here. You think Mr. Brown would want to do some business with Mr. Dolan though?

Why is Philly looking to get rid of him?

They don't want to pay him in fear of the luxury tax. They would prefer to keep him. That Brand signing isn't paying any dividends and is killing them.
