???

Couldn't be used for a draft night move up to a 2-7 spot? Instead, they just sat there and hoped for Curry to fall. Then caught a break when Flynn was picked (opening up a Hill fall to NY scenario or otherwise stuck with Jrue Holiday)?

Are they sitting with even less assets than we were led to believe?

The team isn't interested in winning. They are just gonna muddle along and hope for things to fall into their lap. You know 2010 is going to be full of disappointment.

The perception that the team isn't interested in winning is actually a symptom of the Knicks' renewed effort at building a winning franchise.

It seems so off, this 'calm before the storm' of sorts that we have right now. It seems off because for the last decade we have been fed one 'big' move after another in the hopeless pursuit of a 'rebuild on the fly'. So now that Donnie is trying to restore normalcy, it seems that he is not doing enough-- but that's exactly what shows us that he is doing WAY MORE than the previous two regimes had.

Remain calm, brethren, the Knicks are on the way back (albeit slowly)

Is Mobley's contract insured & a trade-able asset? If so, how it + Chandler wasn't used to get up to 2-7 to get one of the 2 guys who were so obviously a perfect fit for us is beyond me. Hill isn't terrible, but we were very lucky that didn't end up being Holiday or Henderson.

I think it IS tradable, but I don't agree with your reasoning that it + Wil should have been moved for a 2-7 pick.

This draft was weakness, even 2-7, and while we might have been better served coming out with a Rubio or Curry, all is not lost, and neither Curry nor Rubio would have been worth shipping Ill Wil out of town for. Plus, we must remember that maybe, just maybe, Donnie is still in the play for a move to get Rubio.

If anything, it seems wiser to hang on to Mobley and try to ship him out with Eddy Curry or Fishlips.

I like Chandler, but I think players like that are very much available, almost at all times. For example, Sam Young of Pitt dipped way into the 2nd round & I think he's everything Chandler is.

However, Curry/Rubio are not assets easily found.

Interesting.

Maybe players that play Chandler's position are available and players that match his potential are available, but how many players are available at that position that have matured as well as Ill Wil has? A player is a player is a player, and we've got a player on our hands; I say keep.

Rubio might still tumble to us, too.

Rubio - man I would love that, but with Jordan Hill signed, its 3 months before he can be traded. So, its hard to think what Minny would take for Rubio.

Maybe Mobley, Duhon, Chandler for Cardinal, Songalia, Rubio.

That saves them $12-15mm.

I think it is alot like the LaFrentz contract was. It is always mentioned as an asset but is never actually coveted by other teams. I don't think teams make a trade to acquire it but it can be used to make a trade more attractive. I believe the Knicks have to pay at least 2 million of his contract themselves so I am not sure with the rookie salary structure set the way that it is that any team would get enough cap relief to give up a first round pick.
