Ratings on past and future Knick's. Grade includes both offense and defense and backups. Please let me know where you disagree with my numbers?

LAST YEAR'S TEAM

Point guard- 4
Shooting guard-3
Small forward- 5
Power Forward-4
Center-6.5

THIS YEAR'S TEAM

Point guard- 5 *
Shooting guard-5**
Small forward-5.5***
Power forward- 6.5****
Center-5.5*****

*Chris Duhon likely benefits from playing last year. We avoid over using him this year. Also Toney Douglas an upgrade over Nate particularly defensively.

**Wilson Chandler starts, backed up by Toney Douglas

*** Eventually Gallinari starts over Harrington.

**** Is it possible that David Lee will realize that he needs to play more defense if he wants the big money? Backup Darko Millicic or other backup big man.

***** Jordon Hill will improve over time. Backup Darko Millicic or other backup big man.

Based on these number the Knicks are about 20% improved, which clearly isn't enough to make us a playoff team.

Were not and we should be more aggressive trying to be one. We need some production from the front office--we have a huge asset in that Mobley contract where we could take back a max ending contract for on year--do something with it rather than purge.

This year's team should be much better than the team we fielded at the end of last year. In Toney, we added defense at the pg position (a major weakness last year). In Hill, we added a PF who can actually block a shot (another major weakness). Moving Chandler to the starting lineup fulltime, will probably add 3-4 wins. If Curry actually gets down to 280, we will add a low post presence that we missed after we traded Randolph. Assuming everyone stays healthy, including DG, I would not be surprised to see a 10-15 game improvement.

Well, there is one huge, iconic difference between the two line-ups: this year we have Darko, last year we did not.

Mark my words, brethren, Darko will swat shots.

I don't see any great improvements. I think Toney Douglas will be a better player than Nate, but not as a rookie. I wouldn't expect much from Hill as a rookie either. If we experience significant improvement, it will be because Gallo gets healthy and proves to be the player Walsh and MDA were hoping they got and because Curry really does get in basketball shape and dominates inside. Neither of the rookies or Darko will mean much. All of this assumes that Lee comes bac.

Hill will probably play alot and may play the five. I don't expect much from Gallo but will be happy with whatever he provides. I think Lee will be back and I think Darko will do well in D's system. I also think the dysfunction is gone and while I am not a huge fan of D's I think he is starting to get his type of guys in place and that the team will win at least 5 more games this year and probably compete for the 8 spot. The roster is in good shape with a balance of young guys and vets with expiring contracts. Walsh has done a very good job bringing the team back to a level of professionalism while being fiscally responsible.

every year it is the same thing, we think there are improvements, on paper they appear to be, but then the season starts and by December we are out of it.

The problem with the additional players being added- is that you can only have five guys on the floor at any one time. We have depth - good bench. But our starters suck. And I think they still suck.

Darko won't mean much??? Having a shot-swatter of Dikemebe-esque proportion (albeit youthfuller and with much to learn) isn't an upgrade???

Having Gallo at 100% isn't a huge uprgade??? ARE YOU ON OPIATES??? Gallo, at 100%, is going to be Dirk HEAVY-- YOU KNOW HOW THEY SAY "Player"-Lite? Well Gallo is Dirk-HEAVY. Memory intensive, RAM hogging, processor burning, FUTURE ALL-STAR in Gallo, man.

^OH YEA?? you realy think so, McK1??

I don't see MDA as a short-term filler, as you might. MDA is here to set up shop for good, to change the face of the franchise and to put the BANG back in New Bang York.

The fact that he was hired at the rebirth of the Knicks, a permanent schism between the Riley-SVG-IT Knicks and the future-Knicks, doesn't mean anything bad for MDA. It is coincidental. MDA is here to stay for 10+ years.

Wait - are you serious?

Gallo at 100%? What proof is there that he is? Is he playing in summer league? No. Not 100% yet.

And even at 100%, he is an unknown.

They can't play him in summer league. Too rough. That's where he snapped his back last year.
