Mullin To New York Rumors Continue Though it hasn't been confirmed, Chris Mullin will likely be joining the front office of the New York Knicks, according to a Twitter post from Newsday's Alan Hahn. "OMG - did we just go on a two-trade-wining-streak?" -SupremeCommander

If he can help in the draft process bring him in. Donnie is pretty much the best mentor at GM you can ask for.

While Mullin did preside over the one playoff year he sure did lock the team up in some nasty contracts! There is a question when he really stopped being involved as well. Don Nelson certainly orchestrated the more recent disaster over there. At least Mullin won't be alone. Donnie will be here for a few more seasons. John Gabriel is the capologist. We have a good balance here so maybe we can use the good of Mullin and negate the bad.

I think the best GMs and coaches are those that have had some sucess and then fall from grace. They are experienced, seasoned and motivated. Failure is a great teacher and without it there is no balance. I think he did enough good things to warrant him a sucess and at the same time was involved at some level with the madness. As long as he is not "Isiah Mad" then I can agree that he can be a valuable part of the front office team. The owner along with Nellie has reigned madness upon that franchise. At the same time the Warriors have enough talent and assets to make sense out of it. |

Mullin was the GM when they beat the Mavs but making the playoffs and that win has been really attributed to Don Nelson more than the players that Mullin brought in. He did suggest going out getting Nelson so that has to account for something but it turned out to be his undoing in the end. Mullin isn't a great GM but like Isiah, he has a nice eye for talent.

should've been done prior to the draft. be good if it can happen before free agency ends. A lotta young solid mid level talent out there like Felton Warrick and Carney that IMO NY should be looking at. Walsh thinks its 99
the stop underrating David Lee movement
1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

None of that young talent (add Ramon Sessions) is unrestricted FAs. And once G Hill signs, its doubtful we add any of that.

Posted by Cosmic: If Donnie leaves MSG for any reason, I think Dolan will just make Grunwald the GM once again. Grunwald was in the Isiah camp and Dolan is still very tight with that camp. I don't like to play bad rookies , I like to play good rookies - Mike D'Antoni

Isiah brought in Grunwald to be his GM back in 06. They had a previous relationship.
Dolan spoke highly of Grunwald during the 07 season when asked about his front office and his involvement with the front office. CHARLESTON – On the last day of training camp at the College of Charleston, the beat writers finally got to talk to Glen Grunwald, the former Raptors GM who will run the daily front-office duties for coach/president Isiah Thomas. Grunwald's title of senior VP of basketball operations is snazzier than his actual power. And it's no surprise, with the franchise's paranoia about the media, the normally candid Grunwald was not very forthcoming about his views on the KnicksNew York Knicks in his first interview. Grunwald is still feeling his way and hasn’t begun to talk to other general managers about possible deals. “I’m still learning the team,’’ Grunwald said. Grunwald’s in a unique situation as for once owner James Dolan is not looking to add payroll. Thomas does not expect to make a move before Nov. 1’s season opener in Memphis. There may not be any moves of significance until February’s trading deadline, if at all. The Knicks had two major bargaining chips in the expiring contracts of Maurice Taylor and Jalen Rose. Taylor has already been bought out and Thomas said the other day he plans to keep Rose, as the strategy of trading expiring contracts for longer-term ones are over for the Knicks. (Read: Dolan is tapped out). Grunwald will receive calls on all trade inquiries, organize the pro, college and European scouting itineries, handle calls from their player’s agents and do other behind-the-scenes administrative duties so Isiah does not get bogged down. But Isiah is making all the decisions and it's likely Grunwald will need Thomas' approval before offering up players in a deal. Grunwald, Isiah’s former Indiana University teammate whom worked with Isiah with the Raptors, wanted to get back into the game after being the CEO of Toronto’s Board of Trade. That's, too, a fancy name for the city's Chamber of Commerce. “I’m not just trying to improve the team but my role is to take all the administrative pressure off Isiah so he can focus on the team on the floor,’’ Grunwald said. “I understand I’m here to help Isiah be successful.’’ Martin care to explain why you have this obsession with my post. BTW, Grunwald still runs the day to day operations for Walsh who said last year he spent more time getting to know his staff. Although Walsh said this past spring that he will get more involve with scouting as compared to his first year. So he will be taking more scouting trips but Grunwald still handles scouting operations.
