As we all saw last night Radmonivic is a very good player who is gonna get better. Instead of trading Spree and taking on the bigger contract and softer play of Van Horn, we SHOULDA tried to trade down with Seattle in the first round and take a young player to develop, like Outlaw or Diaw, who have more upside than Sweetney. In that deal we COULDA sent Kurt Thomas and a high salary player for Radmonivic and Jerome James who has a big contract but upside. Since McDyess is back, a trade with Seattle can still happen and a player like Kurt Thomas will help their team make a strong playoff push because they need a forward to match up against the talented power forwards in the west. Radmonivic would play small forward and Van Horn can come off the bench to back up the 3 & 4. I would much rather have Spree coming off the bench, whose contract is up in 2 years, in time for a young player to step in and take over. But I don't believe the "brillant" front office of the Knicks WOULDA.

I like the insight, and I must admit I never gave Seattle a second thought until that post. You made a good point about the Spree/KVH trade too. The only thing I'd change is if we could trade another nusiance contract like Spoon's or Eisley's as well.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year.
GO KNICKS!

Sonics were offered many things for Radmonovic last year. I'm assuming we tried to offer a decent package. They really liked kurt and #9... I had a proposition for Kurt, #9, and #38 for Radmonovic and #14.

Radmonovic has a reputation for being extremly soft and not living up to expectations. He is sporadic at best, so he had a good game against the Knicks and now all of a sudden he is the next Euro sensation? Come on guys - he isnt THAT good. He has upside but the Knicks were not looking for that, they were looking for win now. Thats why we got KVH and not someone who would help in the future. I agree they should have shopped Spree around to get a better deal, maybe thrown in KT and #9 and they could have gotten an impact player but I get the feeling they tried shopping Spree and the demand wasnt there because the Knicks destoryed his trade value by making big deals out of his off court habits.

Amen, Nedyal. If we were to judge players just by how they look against us, we'd trade for just about everybody in the league. We'd have a roster of 13 Potapenko's, each an all-star in waiting.

Hey this not about how players look against us but about bringing in players with future potential who can contribute the same if not better than he players we have now, who are not over-paid. Some think this is about winning now, well looking at the standings it's not working. With the scenerio given of the players we SHOULDA, COULDA, but not WOULDA taken, we would have either the same or better record. Most importantly the future would look alot brighter than it does now.
