the italian one i mean...
Agent: Bargnani gets extension

Hedo Turkoglu is on the way and it appears that Andrea Bargnani will also soon have his long-term future secured with the Toronto Raptors.

Bargnani's agent, Leon Rose, told ESPN.com on Tuesday night that the Raptors -- who later this week will officially sign Turkoglu away from Orlando -- have reached an agreement in principle on a contract extension for the 7-foot Italian, who was selected No. 1 overall by the Raptors in the 2006 draft.

The deal, according to NBA front-office sources, would span five seasons starting in 2010-11 and earn Bargnani an estimated $50 million.

Rose declined to discuss contract specifics.

Formally signing Bargnani to an extension this month, coupled with Turkoglu's forthcoming arrival, would give the Raptors a firm handle on at least two-thirds of their frontline for the next few years, as they continue to try to convince face of the franchise Chris Bosh to commit his long-term future to the team.

Bosh is also eligible for a contract extension later this month but has said he is intent on playing out next season and waiting until the highly anticipated summer of 2010 to decide whether to stay in Canada or relocate.

Can't wait till this becomes a garbage contract in 2 years.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

He's overpaid but he'll contribute for at least 2 seasons I think. But he was never worth $10 million in his career and certainly isn't worth it now. His skills will start to wane in a few years and then it will become an immovable contract.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

dj aren't you afraid that he's nothing more than Michael Doleac with slightly better range and marginally better rebounding?

i don't think you guys really watched him play - nor should you - why would anyone watch raptors games. but i have. pre-shaq's arrival in cle, i thought bargs would be the 2nd highest scoring center in the east next season behind dwight. he averaged 19/6 for over 40 games to close out the season.

here are two clips vs. 2 good defensive teams in the spurs + rockets. watch how effortlessly he scored on duncan + yao + scola. and watch his man to man defense. how he keeps his position and blocks some shots.

you're right I really haven't watched him play... I paid attention his rookie season and a little less his soph season and wasn't impressed. Didn't realize he had any semblance of a post game. Better than I remembered

some see what was. Winning GM/Coaches see what can be.

If they are right, they get contract extensions.
